 Got my first e-cig about 1 month ago. Penstyle w/ 2 atomizers. At first all was well for the most part. Other than the constant leaking. Maybe they should start including rags w/ the starter kits.

After 3 weeks or so things started to go downhill. 1 battery top comes off and the wires break. Then 1 atomizer dies, probably my fault but who knows. Get a replacement battery and the same day my other orignal dies. Back to 1 battery. The replacement battery has a shorter cut-off and wont' hold a charge like the original. So now I've got 1 junk battery and 1 atomizer.

I'll tell you there's nothing worse than needing a hit while your ...... and having to fawk w/ an e-cig.

I havent' smoked in 1 month, but due to the frustration level I'm going to buy a pack next time I leave the house.

Maybe I need to get away from the penstyles?

Is there a better model that I should look into?
Thanks

I have been using the DSE901 for about 6 months now and have had to replace both bats and the automiser once. I use the black one wit the blue led but i know other people who have had problems with the 901 aswell ..... I think its a bit of hit or miss as all this is so new. Dont know why they dont make decent bats though it cant be that hard....My mobile phone bats last longer than my ecig ones lol lol....Maybe Nokia should make ecigs hee hee hee.

Starter kits are just what the name implies, a kit that gets you started. If it was a complete kit of everything you will need then it would be called a 'complete kit' not a starter kit.

Regardless of what you get, you WILL need additional atomizers and additional batteries is never a bad thing.

Many to most e-cigs do not have the highest quality control and if you do not have yourself prepared with some backup equipment you will probably find yourself behind the eight ball again at some point.

Ironic...

I have spent countless hours on HoFo discussing how the battery life on so many Nokia phones is not the best. I actually carry a spare battery for my N95 in my wallet.

Penstyle is a solid choice. Longer battery life (except, not in your case) and larger cartridge capacity (assuming you still use those things). Somedays they work fantastic, and other days they are a royal PIA. With extra batteries, extra atomizers, and a usb pass-through, you should be fine for most circumstances.

If I had to start this whole vaping thing over again, I would have purchased 100+ penstyle atomizers and build two 801 Magnum modded devices that could run 3.7V to 6V. I would have saved a ton of cash and had two outstanding device (one red and one blue).

I'm with the last two posters. Ultimately, any ecig users who want to stay happy are going to have to either pony up a lot of money for extra proprietary ecig batteries, or decide to make themselves really happy and satisfied by using a battery mod. That means getting either the Screwdriver or one of it's progeny, or a homemade mod like Madog's magnum.

That being said, they are also going to have to have a plentiful supply of atomizers.

Those two facts of life are just the nature of the beast! :D

Thanks everyone for the replies. I did go buy some heaters and man they taste like shiit.
I've made a few magnums and I like them well enough. I need to get the rechargeables for them still, been using energizers.
I burned up 1 atomizer using my magnum. So I'm kinda leary to go back to it. Plus it eats liquid quick. I guess that's the trade off for big time vapor.
Thanks again everyone. BTW the batts that came with the kit worked pretty well, at least until they started to dismantle themselves.

rusty they do make decent batteries.. but they do the same as if you were to stick your motor bike battery in a 4 x 4 truck.. they use them for purposes they aint fit for.. like powering 1000 mah current draw atomizers all day and every day..

150 mah battery being ask to deliver 1000 ma (6 C) several hundred times a day results in one dead battery very very quickly..

this should be common knowledge by now.. its been stated often enough..

I know this all to well. You have to keep the atomizer wetter than what a cartridge provides. Never, ever drip on a hot atomizer. Always let your Magnum cool down after 4-6 draws for a minute or two. (Do not make me tell you why I know these things to be true). Another good practice is to have another vaping device handy to takes a few draws while you let your Magnum cool. Finally, yes, high-voltage vaping will burn through a lot of juice, but the throat hit is the closest I have experienced to analog smoking. If you are a heavy vaper, have two or three Magnums at hand at all times.

We know what comes in the starter,Do tell what's included in this "complete" kit you speak of?
I figured the starter kit would last longer than 4-5 weeks. My batteries still have a charge in them it's the switch that's causing the problem.
I'm trying to figure out how to add one of these tactile switches to the stock battery

E-cig technology is so young. I think in the next years e-cig's will be far more advanced. Anyone remember the first ipod, it had an actual wheel the rotated, held 2GB worth of music, horrible battery life and was about the size of a walkman. Now look at the current models. OR, look at the first cellular phones, now look at the iPhone.

There is a definitely a big market for super quality e-cig. What I hope to see in the future is an e-cig that can easily hold a charge for 24 hours of constant puffing. Basically you would use it all day/night long and than put in on the charger before you go to bed, wake up with a fully charged battery and repeat. Also I would like to see batteries smaller to allow for a bigger cartridges. A cartridge that could hold an entire packs worth of nicotine would be ideal. Basically be able to go anywhere for however long and not have to bring extra batteries and a ton of cartridges or bottle of juice. A e-cig with a cartridge and maybe a backup full cartridge (just like sometime if you are low on one pack of cigs you carry a second back with you). I think the technology will be there real soon. I also think the e-cig will be able to do all this and still be the exact size of a regular cig. Its only a matter of time.

I didn't have much luck with the penstyle. Moved to 901 and 510 -- they seem to be built much better and I get much better throat hit from them too. But there are many fans of the penstyle model.

But you should definitely get USB passthrough. That way you only need to have atomizer and some liquid around. Before I got the USB passthrough I could not stay away from analogs completely. Unlike e-cigs, they were always there when I needed them.

I also got Kensington Power Pack last week that someone on this forum suggested (BestBuy had it on sale for $39) and it works really well with the passthrough. It is small enough to carry with you just in case and will provide 5+ hours of portable vaping.

Vegatron, you got some good advice here, especially about getting a manual switch, larger battery device. It will take away most of your frustration. Just stocking up on parts that keep breaking is just "dum" advice. Get a device that holds up and you will be doing fine.
I would have thought after i PROVED you were a liar and you slinked away you would have stopped antagonizing me but apparently you are to much of a forum noob to understand when you are over matched kid.

shutup.jpg

why did you slink away and shut up? Is it because you are indeed a liar just like i said in this post?
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/new-members-forum/15294-availability-4.html#post249241

You are a fanboy. fanboys do not have good judgement. Fanboys just blabber about what they are a fan of. Fanboys are just a subsect of trolls. You are such a clueless noob that I cant even explain it to you because you are so noobish as shown in the multiple things you have done that are complete noob mistakes on a forum.

I mean seriously, you are such a noob you actually needed to use the test forum to figure out how to make URL tags. Genuis you could have just used the preview post button. Posting that in the test forum was like nebitard mistakes 101 and it completely advertises to EVERYBODY that you are clueless and this is your first forum.

Here is an entertaining video that you might be able to pull some education out of. be sure to notice how many time they talk about YOU and the things you have done, like your pathetic fanboyism for manual devices that renders you incapable of seeing anything good in anything that is not a manual device. Pay attaention to the part about how noobishly stupid it is to think your post count means something and reflect on the way you attacked me because you have 'more experience' because you have been on the forum longer.

This is the last you will hear from me. From this point onward I will simpley reply to your posts with a picture of a troll, a statement that you are a PROVEN liar and a link to the thread where you ran away and hid from the 100% accurate statement that you are a liar that makes things up

Of course there is still the possibility you are not a liar and are just so ignorant you honestly do not understand things when you read them but I am pretty sure that is not it and it is a case of you just beiong a liar with no integrity.

enjoy the movie...

Oh yeah, atomizers die in manual devices too. Why is it so hard for you to get through a post without lying? That could be a problem.

I hear ya.. Due to my need to modify things. I'm one step ahead. I've been refining the madog magnum. Made a few small changes and been refining my builds.

The main point of my rant is that these parts should last longer than they did, at least mine. A friend got a kit the same time I did. His batts and atomizers are still kicking. Granted I use mine more. But mass failure on my side and none on his is a sign of something.

Tonite I wired a switch to the led end of a stock battery. So I've got a manual switched 801 battery. Who needs the led anyway.

I guess the magnum mod is wave of the future.................
