Around a month ago I bought a M401 Ultra [Auto] kit from Electronic-Cigz.com

It came with a USB charger. That was my first problem.

I think there was a short in it. When it was charging, it would have a little light that would light up red. When it was finished, the charger light with light up red and then green, back and forth.

Well, it quit lighting up at all. My cigarette batteries would never get fully charged, just partially. I finally fixed it with the help of my bf. You just have to wiggle around the USB connector for the light to come on and you're set. My batteries started fully charging, so it was all good.

Well about three days later [Today], my cigarette quit working. The battery had went dead. So I switched batteries. It lit up when I inhaled, but I didn't get any smoke. So I added some liquid to the cartridge. Still no smoke.

I felt the atomizer after inhaling a couple times, and there was no heat. I'm assuming my atomizer is broke.

So questions...is my diagnosis wrong?

I also wanted to know how long cartridges and atomizers are supposed to last. The cartridges have been holding up fine, it seems. I didn't suspect that the atomizer would blow after a month.

Atomizer life varies. Sometimes a really good one can last months, others may last only a few days. I've only lost one atomizer and that was on day three of use, so I count it as defective.

How long cartridges/cartomizers/atomizers are supposed to last is another area with huge variance. It depends on how often you use it, what you're filling it with, the type of battery you use, etc.

I know all of that means I didn't really give you any answers at all. Do you have a spare atomizer? With all of the problems you've had, I think I'd suggest trying another type of e-cig. I have no knowledge of an M401, but yours certainly doesn't sound good. I'd also recommend a manual battery, I much prefer those over the automatic I started with.

Welcome to ECF! I hope you'll find all the answers you need and will feel at home. I know I do.

The lights on the USB chargers I've had start out glowing red, switch between red and green while charging, and then glow green only when the battery is fully charged, so you may be removing the batteries from the charger too early. Those chargers don't appear to last very long, either. The ones that plug directly into the mains seem more reliable.

Atomizers can last a few days, or a few months - it seems to be a matter of luck. Did you blow out the atomizer you added more liquid to, to make sure it wasn't flooded?

Definitely sounds like a dodgy atomizer, which is weird since the initial problem was with the charger. Makes me wonder if that didn't have anything to do with it. Try another atomizer in order to make sure though. I agree that the manual models seem to be more reliable and also produce better vapour. Also, all the stories you hear about people ending up with mouthfuls of E-Juice are mostly due to faulty auto atomizers and people sucking too hard on the cartridge hoping to get some vapour out.
