Hey there.

I've been using a Health E-cigarette for about five days now and I could do with a little advice. Firstly the batteries and cartridges don't last seem to last as long as they should. I assume the crappy battery is due to the fact that I bought a cheap e-cig but the cartridges I'm not sure. Maybe I'm using it incorrectly?

I seem to get a decent amount of 'smoke' out of it at first but then after the equivelant of a few fags in it doesn't drag properly and I've ended up changing them perhaps prematurely. It says on the packet I'm supposed to get two hundred drags out of each cartridge and I'm getting no where near that much. I'd say about fifty or sixty.

Also its starting to hurt my throat quite a lot. Is this common for e-cigarettes or are some smoother? I'm not too bothered about taste or aesthetics at this point I'd just like to get used to using the e-cig cos I really wanna light up!!!

The main reason I wanna quit smoking tobacco is cos I'm a singer and its just demolishing my singing voice over the years. My voice is quite high range so I'm starting to sound like a twelve year old Courtney Love. And for a twenty three year old guy thats not too great.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

What did you buy? Ah - Health? Yeah that is weak w/ teensy tiny carts. There are a lot of crap ecigs. And there are a lot of crap websites that lie about their products - they lie about the battery life, about how many puffs you get out of a cartridges etc. Most of us here are happily vaping ecigs w/ no smoking at all. But you need to get an ecig that is suitable for you and the strength/amount of cigarettes you smoke, the way you smoke, and how often you are near battery chargers. And you have to use eliquid. There are no prefilled carts or cartos that last long enough to keep people happy. You need to add eliquid.

The next step up are ones that are ok for light to moderate vapers who aren't interesting in big drag and have access to chargers most of the time. These would be manual Joye 510 (180mah battery or about 2 hours of charge), manual Joye 510 mega xl (long 280mah batteries w/ 60% more charge), manual KR808D-1 aka Vapor4Life (280mah). These are what I mostly use and I use them with blank Boge 510 cartomizers (standard resistance) because they give a nicer vaping experience than atty+cart (hold more liquid, more consistent vape, need liquid less often).

The next step up after that are fat battery models like Ego and Riva 510 with 650-1100mah batetries.

Sounds like you just bought a crappy one dude.

You'll find amazing information on here about how go get an e-cig that's right for you.

Decide what style you want first, then chose a brand or kit at a price that works for you. I'd suggest avoiding the super cheap stuff, and go with something branded. The first question you should ask is how important is it to you for it to look like a real .... if you don't care what it looks like, the EGO gets amazing review. If you want it to perform like a smoke and look real, get what I have, Bloog Maxx Fusion mini PCC kit. I haven't smoked since the day I got it, and have had no trouble at all with anything. I would suggest you buy blank carto's and fill yourself, so you always know what you're getting.

Just tear through this forum, narrow it down to a few models and brands, and if you want to see how they work, the youtube reviews are really helpful!

Cheers and good luck!

I don't think so. It's probably more like your first statement and it's just the crappy battery.

Don't believe what they say for one second! Anyone who says a cartridge equals x amount of puffs or cigarettes is lying.

Are their carts PG or a mix of PG and VG? You might want to try drinking more water because vaping dehydrates you, which explains the sore throat.

The main reason I wanna quit smoking tobacco is cos I'm a singer and its just demolishing my singing voice over the years. My voice is quite high range so I'm starting to sound like a twelve year old Courtney Love. And for a twenty three year old guy thats not too great.

I actually started on an ecig much like Health. But you need to buy eliquid in the right nicotine level for you and with a good aroma and start refilling those cartridges. I also restuffed my cart with blue foam (search Youtube for M401 Blue Foam but make the plug about 2/3 the inner depth of the carts, very very slightly wider and taper it on the inner end - I cut mine from the small pieces for 510 sold at strictlyejuice.com)

And for looking at other models - how long at once are you away from power for charging batteries? I think the Health ecig batteries are only 90mah. There are a number of choices that are better than what you are using. The question is what is the least battery charge length you are willing to have and what is the largest size ecig you are willing to have.

Hello & welcome Spok form another UKer :)

As Womanofheart & Dormouse say, there are better models available with much better battery life.

A lot of folks in the UK started off with the Health-E - usually buying them via Amazon. But they soon upgrade to something like the Riva & find an e-liquid that suits them.

It's a great e cig to just try out and see if you could quit using e cigs and i suppose you could actually quit using one. But i think it'll drive you nuts with its short battery life. I bought 5 of em and it was still stressfull.

As for the carts. I used to try and try to only use two a day (supposedly equal to 40 fags). In the end i used to use 4 or 5 a day. Quelling the cravings was everything. I think they overestimate the cartridges somewhat.

An upgrade to a model with a battery that would last a day will take a lot of the stress out of things. They would be easier to re-fill too. And therefore cheaper.

The performance tail off of your e cig is probably the battery. It starts to be less efficient a while before the battery is actually in need of re-charging.

So it's a good e cig. But very very limited. You could make it work for you but you'll need to be aware of exactly why it's not drawing right (cartridge empty or battery running down).

keep posting. Keep it up.

Starter kits are there so you can get acquainted with the ecig. You my friend need to get some juices from Gourmet Vapors, and a complete mod kit from the classifieds here on ECF. Make sure they are using 510 connections. I bought my first ecig Smoking Everywhere Gold. I barely got any nicotine feel and continued to analogs. After some hours of research I came across here and found what was given in those kits were not monitored. And so the carts were different in how much juice was in each one. If you need details let me know and can direct you in the right way. And welcome to ECF!

Spok, the best deal I can find on the Riva is still at Liberty Flights at the moment - use ECR69 code for a 15% discount.

Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Riva 510

It comes with dry cartridges so you will also have to buy some e-lquid & 2 of my fave e-liquid sellers are -

Paradise vapes - their LnB is a great tobacco flavour -
E-Juice - Tobacco - Paradise Vape UK _ Vape dont smoke

And freedomvape - their Cappuccino and Caramel is delicious :)
Flavoured E-Liquid - Items - FreedomVape (UK)

Thanks it looks interesting I'll take a look on youtube.

Hey Spok, as being a new vaper, i highly suggest giving this a read Vaping Guides Don is a pro and highly knowledgeable member of this forum. This will give you insight and most likely lead you to an educated decision about what may be right for you. Peace :)

I'll take a look, thanks man.

So are these disposable 510s as good as the real thing? As in do they vape as well?

Also, in regards to my hoarse voice from vaping, are lower nicotine liquids easier on the throat? Are certain liquids harsher or smoother? Or are there flavours that don't burn so much? Cos right now my throat feels like i've been smoking real fags as much or even more than normal (although my lungs are clearing up beautifully, its lovely. I woke up this morning and I wasn't coughing my guts up). Is this normal or should it be better on the throat than smoking? Maybe this is something I notice so much because I'm a singer and its obviously very important.

Again, any insight would be great.

Thanks
:)

Hi Spok,
Being a singer, your vocal chords may have some damage and they are stretched more than those that don't sing. that may give you a hypersensitivity to the vapor. I have been professionally recording and live mixing for 24 yrs and have seen all kinds of vocal chord dysfunctions. Just be careful when you get hoarse from vaping, maybe stop vaping a few days and smoke some cigs to see if vapor is the actual culprit. OR Switch to a VG based liquid for a less harsh throat hit. Keep the nic level as high as you can tolerate. Drink more water, vaping will dehydrate you more than you think.

Hi Spok, sorry about that less than stellar first experience... but you are not alone, lots of us went that route. I'm glad you don't want to go back to smoking so I really hope you find the right vape for you. This link shows you all the various styles of ecigs, from tubes to mods... I hope it helps :)

Yeah... Some suppliers, including "Gamucci" (Grrr) claim that one catridge is equivalent to about a 100 normal cigarettes. This is not true. One catridge will last you a maximum of 5 real cigarettes and health-ecigarette is not going to get you far either. The only way forward, I believe, is if you order either a riva, ego or 510 along with some e-juice so you can start dripping(menthol flavour e-juice is also known to increase vapour and throat hit). It will get you much more flavour, vapour, a great throat hit and will save you loads of money compared to buying catridges.

Hi Spok, welcome to the forum.
There is some great info here.
The Riva - Ego - and Tornado are all about the same thing.
I use a Tornado and 901 atty with a 901- 510 adapter.
If the liquid is bothering your throat I would get a liquid that is mostly VG And keep you nic level up so you dont crave the cigarettes.
I use a 40%Vg 60PG mix with 18mg nic and it has a nice throat hit like a full flavor cig.
But doesnt bother my throat.
With the right e-cig and liquid this should go away.
Try different mixes and just find the right one for you
You may need to go 100% Vg.
Good Luck :)

Thanks, SubOnAux! And much of the new information is being provided by my equally (more?) knowledgeable partner, CyberWolf. The wit and wisdom;-) of two veteran vapers for the price of one. [Actually, there is no price. We give it away ... and charge our advertisers for the privilege of shoving their banners in your face.:D]
