E-Cig noob...some questions...

Fairly new to all of this, I did some experimenting with Blu Cigs which showed me the potential, but I really didn't dig the flavor (Classic tobacco). I did some digging and came across some highly recommended juices at Ahlusion, but I'm a bit confused. Some of their blends are not recommended with tanks or cartomizers, and i was just curious what you would use instead? I recently picked up a Vaporzone Pro Starter kit, and I'm pretty sure it uses a cartomizer. Anyone willing to help me out?

Yes, there are some flavors that weaken polycarbonate. Cinnamon is one, orange, strawberry. There are some others. There is a big old thread here that has a detailed list. I'll see if I can track it down. For those flavors you'd want to use a Pyrex carto tank, a Pyrex clearo, or some sort of all metal device.

While I don't believe I have ever heard of the company you have bought your starter kit from, I can tell you a few things.

- It seems like you bought, what resembles, an EVOD starter kit. It doesn't say (or I just can't read) but it looks like a bottom coil tank system. Which basically means that it feeds liquid in from the bottom which provides its own slew of pro's and cons. I happen to LOVE bottom coil systems. It also looks like it is a passthrough device which means when you are at a computer, you can plug the ecig in to the computer via usb port and still vape while it is plugged in. It is a handy little thing to have just because you don't have to waste fully charged devices while you are on the computer. I still kick myself for not purchasing one yet, no idea why I haven't..I just haven't :(

-With your ejuice situation. Some ejuice will effect tanks/clearo's/attys ect differently. More thicker juices will have wicking issues which basicalyl means it will have trouble feeding it through to produce vapor. Some juice actually has the potential to crack tanks due to the strength of the flavor base. Most of the time if you love vaping things like cinnamon, people recommend using glass tanks, as they do not crack from liquid. Also the stronger flavors might leave a lingering taste in your tank and you might taste a hint of it when switching to other flavors in that same tank. That is why most vapers, who like both kinds of flavors, will generally have 2 different tank systems; one for the strong flavor (ie-cinnamon) and one for others.

Huge Ahlusion fan here...
Their NETs (naturally extracted tobaccos) are quick to gum up coils of any kind. I am a tobacco only junky. Also basically strictly a genesis atty user. I have to clean/dry burn at least every 2-3 days. These juices can be used in any atty, just keep in mind the life span will be severely cut down.
So I would suggest trying an atty that can be dry burned or coil changes every couple days.
It took me a year to find juice I liked and Ahlusion is it.

Good luck and stick w it!

What you have is a bottom feeding clearomizer tank. Another example would be a Kanger Evod - it's a tank with a removable head (the atomizer) that sits at the bottom, that contains a coil and a wick, which can be rebuilt or replaced. A bigger brother would be a ProTank.

A cartomizer is a tube, with a coil (the atomizer) in the bottom, surrounded by padding that wicks the juice. They're used in a tank, the juice is drawn into it via holes or slots in the side of the tube, or used with no holes, and juice dripped in 4-5 drips at a time. Your Blu cartridge is a mini version of this, it's just a small atomizer in some polyfill, attached to a battery, with a mechanism that fires the battery from drawing on it. (You can pop the end off the end of the cartridge, and add more juice, or take it apart to see what's in it) (In fact, I'm curious as to what size threads are on the Vaporzone, Blu uses 510 threads, and you could put a Blu cartridge on your Vaporzone battery and use it, if the threads are the same size)

I don't have any experience with Ahlusion, other than reading a lot of very positive reviews, so all I can say is order a sample, and try it. Your gear is pretty standard, I don't think you should have any issues, other than the flavors being too subtle to really taste on your equipment. The good news is, if there's a flavor you're interested in, post it here, and I'm sure someone knows of another company with a juice that's close or the same.

some e-liquid flavors contain and "Ester group" in the molecules that are used for various flavors and fragrances.
Ester - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia check it out its very interesting (at least to me)
Some esters can react with some types of plastics.. BPA is a well known example.
most vendors are aware of this and label the reactive flavors in the product listing with a warning that reads something like "this flavor is known to crack or fog plastic tanks"
if you have an old Compact Disk lying around and some e-liquid your not sure about you can put 1 or 2 drops on the bottom (clear side) of the CD and let it sit for 1-2 days. wipe the dot of e-liquid off of the CD and if there is a foggy spot on the CD where the e-liquid was, it can not be used in plastic tanks.

if the tank fogs up or cracks you cant use any of the parts attached to it (the battery or power source is fine) unless they are metal or glass. even then the metal and glass parts need to be washed extremely well in boiling water. the plastic in the tank well leach into the e-liquid as well as the wick and coil.

First, thanks to everyone for such quick and very helpful responses. I'm kind of overwhelmed actually. Very awesome!

Information overload. It is common, most of us have been there. Just keep reading and asking questions, this is a great place to do just that. Good luck on your vaping journey.

I don't think you should have any issues, other than the flavors being too subtle to really taste on your equipment.

Thanks again for your insight, but this statement makes me a bit concerned. Obviously I want to have the best experience I can, and all the technobabble at this point is pretty confusing for me. In the past I have thoroughly enjoyed hookahs, pipes, and cigars so I am very aware that subtlety is very rewarding and satisfying. What improvements could be made to my setup? And is there a thread or a post that breaks all this stuff down into beginner terminology?
