E Cig Noob w/ Riva 510 Question

Hi...so I just got a Riva 510 from LibertyFlights after combing thru these forums. Can I start using it out of the box with no negative battery effects or do I need to have it charge for 8 hours? Torture!

Havent had an analog since the 7th...where do you get those sig banners that track your savings and cigs not smoked? lol

The battery should be charged right out of the box.. My ego batts were. as for the banners.. I never could get one to work. but if you go to your profile you can add a sig. line. (you've probably already charged your batteries by now)

No instructions in the box? Mine came with a little booklet.

OK, found it. It says to charge for 8 hours, use for 20 minutes and charge for 1 more hour.

No problem using the battery right out of the box. li ion batteries do not have a memory. They are shipped/stored at approx. 40% charged. This is the best way to store batts, but use them, when they are run down recharge them.

I just got one of those Riva kits from Liberty Flights for my sister in-law and it did come with instructions. Oddly enough they say that the first time charge should be for 8 hours. Then you are to use it for 20 minutes and charge it again for 1 hour. After that you can use it normally. I don't know why but, that's what they say.

To get a signature, you have to hit 15 posts and wait for the system to refresh (about an hour). Once it is, find someone with a banner in their signature and click it. Fill out the info on the page, and copy the text in the top box.

Go to your profile settings, and you should see "Edit Signature" on the left side of your page. Click on that, and paste the code from the signature banner site. Voila!

No need to go past 'green' on the charger. The 8 hour thing is a left over from nicad batts.... not appropriate for li ion batteries. Also, if you're at home and the battery in the charger is green - change it out. You can lenghten the total life of your battery by frequent charges. Li ion batteries have no 'memory' issues. There's a bunch more info at that battery university site.

I my head, I agree with you. OTOH I'm pretty sure Rivas always had Li ion batteries. So, since I did read the instructions, I'll probably do the rain dance.

Almost all ecig batts are li ion or lithium polymer and they react very similar. So when you see green (sometimes blue) on the charger, you're good to go.
