I found an e-cig dictionary that explains pretty much what all the terms mean E-Cig Glossary. Definitions, abbreviations, and meanings. | eCigology
but I'm still unclear about what the term mod means. Got the traditional meaning, modified, like to modify an ecig with a homemade coil or something. But what's the second meaning, all I get from it is that the battery isn't cylinder shaped. Like they're talking about an box battery or something. Am I correct?

Also, what are these 'mechs' I keep hearing about? That was the whole reason I went looking for an ecig dictionary.

A mech is any device without any computerized chip. It's pure power and battery understanding. Essentially a battery holder and a switch. A mod is basically now anything that is more than an ego style battery.

A mechanical mod does not contain a board or any wiring,

Mod generally means to modify from the original. Definitions are going to vary greatly here.

I understand that "MOD" means modifiable. Just a difference between Advanced Personal Vaporizers (APV) and cig-a-likes.

"Mod" an antique term for a homemade/modified battery holder.

"The term used for many years for these XL and full-feature models was ‘mod’, as originally they were modified flashlights, laser pointers and similar, used because they had bigger batteries. Describing the new high-performance, luxury, multi-function, expensive, long production run, 3rd-generation devices as ‘mods’ does not do them justice at all, so we are moving toward using the far more accurate term ‘APV’ or advanced personal vaporizer."
A "mech" is an all mechanical battery tube. No electronics or wires.
