In it's simplest form a mech mod (mechanical mod) is a battery tube with a 510/ego connector and a switch. It works the same way a flashlight works. Hit the switch and full battery power is provided to the atomizer coil inside your ejuice tank. It will continue firing as long as the switch is on.
Regulated mods (vv/vw mods), are of similar construction but control the voltage and limit the amount of current provided to the tank atomizer. They also include safety features like the 10 sec cutoff.

thanks for the info. I also took a crash course in mech mods on the net. Debating on whether to get one or not. Thanks again

Just a few words of caution, if you do go for a mech mod also take a crash course on batteries. Then get a multimeter and I also recommend a charger that with an LCD that reads the battery voltage when the battery is put in to charge. It should also give you the voltage when it fully is charged. A mech can easily discharge a lithium battery beyond it's safe limits and create a dangerous situation.
