Hi Everyone:

DH, 12yo, and I went to the mall yesterday afternoon for an outing together just to break the cycle of us all climbing the walls since DH had the heart attacks, stroke, then quadbypass surgery. He's been itching to go somewhere and a little walking isn't bad as long as he can sit and rest. The mall is full of places like that and with my blindness (w/small amt of residual vision remaining) we can park in handicapped parking places, which is nice b/c the parking spaces are larger. It helps me not hit other cars when either getting my guide dog out to harness him or unfolding my cane. I have joint disease from lupus and Sjogren's too so that helps tremendously too. I can't walk long distances w/o rest myself.

Anyhow, I walked all over the wall with DH and little one through both floors and in the elevator with my e-cig Janty Dura-C and nobody said anything, even when I thought I had dropped it when I slipped it into my pocket to pay for a few things I picked up and the cashiers asked what I'd lost and if they could help... I told them it was my electronic cigarette but then I found it in my pocket. It's slim and sits snug in the corner edge while I pay for things. I'm careful to take it out of my pocket so I don't sit on it. Eventually I plan to get one of those PCC packs to carry the batteries, cartridges, etc... but all throughout the few hours or more we spent at the mall nobody said anything. My little one even told me that we passed a few security men but they never gave me a second glance and I was taking a drag from the e-cig. Nothing was said in a bad way or anything - nada.

Actually, I had a few cashiers ask where I got my electronic cigarette and I told them about the Janty USA website as well as the specific model I had with me that I use.

That's my story for the afternoon and evening out and about within a mall for at least 4 to 6 hours give or take...

Nice paise! I haven't had the courage to smoke in the Fayetteville Mall yet (or maybe it's just because I try to avoid malls like the plague?)

Mebbe I can interest you and the DH to come join some of us other NC e-smokers for a gathering in the near future? Visit the NC E-smokers thread in the Social Forums to find out where and when we'll do the next one. It's just a small social gathering at a coffee shop where we can share experiences, different models, and different flavors and just vape in public. :D

Transportation is really difficult for me because there is no public transportation here. DH doesn't smoke and I am a bit leery of him driving far until he has his vision checked; however, maybe my oldest daughter can take me sometime when she has a day off. She lives in Goldsboro now. She transferred to a college closer to there so she moved to Goldsboro to cut down the commute time.

I forgot to add that I e-vaped at my doctor's appt July 17th. 8-o My regular doc was out until the 21st on vacation so I had the appt with some doctor that was taking his place. She thumbed through my records, which are probably the size of a PDR (Physician's Desk Reference Book) considering all the health issues I have but when she checked my chest, she asked if I had stopped smoking or severely cut back. I told her I was using the e-cigarettes now and while I still had 1 to 2 "analogs" I was basically using only the e-cigs. She said my chest sounded much better then commented that she could smell a fruit flavor, which was coming from the Janty Dura-C I had in my purse's outside pocket. She said it seemed to be working considering all my previous visit notes had crackles and franks (franks are a type of chest sound; it's not a good sound either - FYI: I'm a former medical transcriptionist). There were a few crackles but not on the scale from my previous visits and I had no franks or wheezes tho' it's rare I have wheezes unless I've got a cold or something.

Once I made it to the examination room and the nurse closed the door, I pulled out my Janty Dura and took a couple of vapes before putting it in my purse. I had the cherry flavor liquid in the cartridge, which smells good but Janty's Cherry flavor isn't a strong sweet flavor. I'm hoping eventually to find one that tastes and smells like Sweet Dreams' cherry flavored cigarettes. They taste so good but they are so expensive. I've picked up a few samples and one 36mg bottle of Virginia flue cured but I haven't had a chance or the funds to try out various cherry flavors. If anyone knows of a vendor with a cherry flavored e-liquid that matches Sweet Dreams brand cherry flavor please share the info.

I noticed on the signature thing that I've gone 16 days on e-cigs, saved $168 and some change in $$ from not buying analogs, and it's saved me from some 560 in analog cigarettes though that's not completely accurate. I bought 4 packs of cigarettes on July 3rd so I could get through until the Janty Dura-C kit with the cherry e-liquid came in. I had about a half of a pack in one pack and part of another although I have somehow lost the other pack somewhere in my house and I can't find it. From July 7th, which is when my kit came in, I've smoked 1-3 analogs a day that first week but afterward, I've done well with just 1 to 2 a day and the last few days I've only had 1 day if even that many. I've lost the smoker's cough. I can breath in the mornings and taste and smells are coming back... I've been a smoker for some 25 yrs or so. I started around 12-13 then quit during my first pregnancy for 2 yrs and started back after my 1st husband walked out when our daughter was 10 mos old.

I'm looking forward to hitting that 90-day or 300 days like others on the boards have done. I cannot imagine going 300 days without a cigarette but then again I thought I couldn't imagine going 16 days but with the exception of the few I've had but cut back on once my body adjusted to the nicotine levels in the e-cigs, I've made it these 16 days!

It's not that I like going to the doctor but I have an interest in my regular doctor's reaction at my next appointment. When I do cough now, I find that I am coughing up crud from when I was smoking and the less I smoke of analogs, the less I cough but the more productive the coughing I do becomes. I hope he's going to be on board with the e-cigs. I mentioned it to him at my previous appt but he didn't know much about them so I told him I'd bring my kit in when I was able to order it and we could take it from there.

BTW, I didn't dare vape in the waiting room. I know my doc's nurse would go ape-$$$ on me if I did. She's an elderly lady of no relation to me; however, I've known her most of my life and I honestly believe that woman would blister my backside if I were to do something like that in the waiting room. She's like another mom or a close aunt whose always been there. MOF, she and the former doctor she worked for who retired then sold his practice to my current doctor, has treated four generations of my family. The doctor that delivered me at birth, although he's dead now, delivered three generations of my family. He delivered my maternal grams, my mother, then me. He retired before my little brother came along.

The real e-cig test is going to happen if I can make it 30 to 60 to 90 days without coming down with bronchitis or a sinus infection, more so the bronchitis than the sinus infections because I have allergies, which sometimes will cause a sinus infection. Bronchitis seems to ebb and flow more with the amount I smoked of analog cigarettes.

I'll try to post an update when I have my next doctor's appointment. I'm interested in learning what my doctor thinks about the e-cigarettes and how my health is doing when I am able to give up the analogs for good. I've got 1 cigarette left of the analogs unless I find the other pack I lost and I have no intention of purchasing another pack of analogs ever again. It's why I hope and hope that the government and the FDA will leave E-cigs alone. The FDA doesn't give a rat's hindend about our health concerning the e-cigarettes. All they're ...... off about is how the e-cigarettes are taking away their tax dollars. It won't happen but maybe they'll go after booze to get their tax dollars for a change. I'm sick of being taxed to death on one of the few vices I have remaining. I've given up so much already. Now, there's a safer way for me to enjoy smoking/vaping and maybe even quit at some time in the future. I don't want our government to take that away from us. I've made plans to call my senator tomorrow and make a plea to him to stop the FDA from getting involved in trying to ban or tax e-cigs. He's pretty good about taking up causes that are good for the people. He's even started a bill that will allow young women and others to have early mammograms and other cancer screenings at no cost to very low cost. I sent him an email thanking him for taking up that cause especially after my last appt with my regular doctor, not the one with his fill-in. I had to have a mammogram and ultrasound after finding knots in my right breast. My doctor found 1-2 I missed and the mammogram and ultrasound found another. The one it found was worded in the form I received on the results as a "probable benign cyst." I'll have to have mammograms and ultrasounds at 6-month intervals from now on to find out if this grows or begins to appear cancerous. The other knots were fibrous tissue and for now, they are harmless.
