so i bought my first e cig 2 days ago. i'm not really sure of the brand, i bought it at a kiosk in a mall. it's the same ones you get from smokefreeonline.com. i think i should of researched a little more before buying it. i feel like i have to inhale so hard to get a good drag and even the the throat hit isn't what i want. i need to feel the slight burn on my throat. the biggest test would be when i wake up in the morning, because i'm craving a cig pretty bad after i eat breakfast, but my e cig didn't really do anything for me. i get a good amount of vapor i just can't feel it go down and that's what i really want. i find myself sucking on this thing all day, it's just not a good replacement for real cigs, i'm not getting the satisfaction that i would with a real cig. i'm sure it's been posted 100000 times but i can't read through all those posts haha. what's the best e cig out there for a good throat hit?

Hate to say it, but reading through the posts would help you decide much better than a couple of responses here. I read in every second of my spare time for the better part of a week before pulling the trigger and buying something. In the meantime, I smoked normally and vaped on the convenience-store e-cig I bought. I knew from reading here that I could do better, but I wanted to make sure I didn't screw up before I spent the money.

I ended up buying an Echo with 1300mah batteries (these particular batteries last about 13 hours). I'm away from home 12 hours a day and this was essential for me. The Echo is NOT a top seller around here so my suggestion is likely not going to be, er, echoed by many people. There's nothing wrong with it, but folks will likely steer you toward the Ego line, which as I understand it, is similar but a bigger seller with more supplier options.

You need to decide what you need and what you like and what you're willing to do. If you are by nature a tinkerer, you might go all out and get tanks and mods and all kinds of other stuff (and you might end up there a few months from now anyway). You might want only something that looks like a cigarette and prefilled cartomizers so you don't have to mess with e-liquid, but everyone here will tell you that the more it looks like a cigarette, the shorter the battery life and the less you're likely to be satisfied, and that prefilled cartos generally suck (stale liquid, little selection, higher cost).

Try checking out the threads on these brands and see if any of them are calling to you: Echo, Ego, Kgo, Riva.

As for e-liquds, there are a couple of "favorite juice" threads in the new members forum that will give you ideas. Remember that if you smoke a pack a day or more, you will likely need 24 mg of nicotine just to ensure you aren't going through withdrawal. Remember also that your taste buds will be all wacky at first, and your tastes will change, so don't buy huge vats of something ... buy a lot of sample packs and vape vape vape.

Buy at least two batteries so you can be charging one while using the other. Buy lots of empty cartos to test liquids. Most starter kits will set you up nicely, but I would definitely order more cartos than you think you'll need.

The learning curve here is steep, but it's worth it to get it right the first time .... do NOT go back to the mall kiosk; you'll waste a ton of money and be discouraged pretty quickly, as I think you're already seeing...

People here are very willing to help, but you are not gonna read one post and know that that is the way to go. You'll get a dozen suggestions on this thread and every one of them will be different. It's up to you to narrow it down to the one you will go with.

Hope this helps! Welcome!!!

Welcome to ECF. One thing to keep in mind is that the more an e-cig look like a cigarette the worse it will perform. To start with I would recommend a true 3.7 volt device such as a Riva, KGo or ePower combined with a low resistance cartomizer like Boge 2.0 ohm or Smoktech 1.7 ohm. Depending on the size of the battery you will get at least 6 hours of use (with a 650 mAh batt). The low resistance cartomizers will give you increased vapor and more throat hit compared to a regular resistance carto. Any of the PV's I mentioned can be had for $40.00-$60.00 and should come with 2 batteries and chargers. They are larger than a regular cigarette, more like a small cigar.

The other thing you would need is juice. Based on how much you smoke, juice with 18-24 mg.ml nicotine would be a good starting point.

Another thing to keep in mind is that you will not get the nicotine rush from vaping like you do from smoking. The nicotine enters your body slower and more gradually when vaping. And don't be discouraged if you cannot give up cigarettes completely while vaping. It took me months to work up to only having a couple of cigarettes a day and the for several weeks I still had my morning cigarette with coffee. Others are able to give up cigarettes as soon as they try vaping.

Good luck...

What strength juice are you using? While I agree, you may need a better battery, throat hit can also be increased by upping nicotine strength (mg/ml) and altering the PG/VG ratios. Higher % of PG will increse throat hit. Higher % of VG will increase vapor production. You have to experiment and find out what will work for you. These components are different for every single vaper (as I'm learning).

Without knowing the pg/vg ratio, your cartos ohms or the amount of nicotine in your carto it is hard to make a recommendation. All of these and the type of juice will have an effect on the hit.

My guess is that you will need a larger battery and a lower ohm carto.

The more power a battery sends to the coil the more juice that can be vaporized.
power = watts
Lower ohms = more watts = more hit and vapor.
More volts = more watts = more hit and vapor.

Using more watts will also drain your battery faster.

With the same voltage you will get a lot more hit and smoke with a 2.0 ohm cartomizer than with a 3.0 ohm cartomizer. To say a battery gives good smoke and hit doesn't really mean anything. It is the combination of battery votlage and cartomizer ohms that matters.

If you are going to use a lower ohm carto you need a larger battery for safety, battery life and just the ability to deliver enough current to a low ohm cartomizer.
