You reminded me but I'm NOT relating the following little story to the vaping industry...
When I was still on Aerospace and out at Rocketdyne we were going over the old design problems of the Apollo and eventually Space Shuttle main engines. One of the problems was with seals having to ensure the massive temperature shifts and brutal conditions of launch through orbit through re-entry. This was causing a lot of concerns over fuel leaks, lost fuel, and safety...
So they decided if they couldn't fix the leaks, they'd make the leaks work for them....
They engineered the various pathways for fuels and respective seals to leak back into the engine burners so they wouldn't lose fuel or cause external fires. It was such a cool set of papers and meeting recordings to go through. As they got over not being able to conquer something to "failing with style" (apologies to Buzz Lightyear). -Magnus
