Sorry MM I'm like that I drop off the face of the earth for a little while and then pop back up according to the demands of work and family life. So when I go off the radar don't panic.

I meant most of the ECF population has no part. 10 thousand people, more coming every day, even more reading.

My part was the worst. Calling attention to the auntie comment was just carelessness. There's never a good time to be careless, and I'll re-apologize, but the timing was also the worst.

You also tried hard to help that same troubled person, that very day, and maybe we were played like xylophones, but we can both hope what we said might help somebody else, maybe a lurker who will never even register.

On the other, you mean the actual text string "quit smoking," right? without the comma and the quotes, or should it be also without the space?

They need to get over the aunt thing anyhow what better reason to vape than she had? I believe I started that one and I'm not sorry I meant what I said and they can kiss my fanny if they don't like it... some people just look for the bad and when you do that you're sure to find it.

We can only hope that once they recieve enough of their own medicine without protection, they will realize how they treat people, and maybe, just maaayybe change their ways. At LEAST lighten up. But good luck. Their addicted to the POWER...forget the nicodemon, they are power hungry folk there.

and you are indeed giving them a little taste of what THEY usually dish out to defenseless newbies, but I've seen others, including myself, try to give them a bit of their own medicine only to see it go back to the way it was.

They truly are addicted to the power and my personal belief is that the only thing that will EVER change that board is..."mods". However, I can just see who ol freddy will appoint as mods...THEM.

It's a bully board and I don't see that changing..

Thats what I've been thinking for a while...Leave the children alone...All bullies are anyway is frightened little children...trying to pass off their suffering...

of course thats my opinion as when I dealt with the one bothering me in jr high EVERYONE gave me space as I beat him senseless...after that I could easily send the others (bullies) running in the school because they didn't want a repeat incident...so IMNSHO frightened little children...heck for a few mo after that I actually became what I hated...I bullied the bullies of the whole school for a bit...it was fun for a bit but it served no real purpose and quite likely got some poor kid bullied all the more because of the frustration they felt being pushed around by a supposed 110 pound weakling...(not so weak as they thought)

A person, ostensibly from there, has been posting here. She seems troubled, people had tried to help her, especially yesterday, there was a lot of trying to do that.

It didn't seem to be helpful, though.

Later that day, I saw a reference to the auntie she had made on a sort of playground forum they have, and I mentioned it here.

It was an incredibly thoughtless thing to do. Not that it would ever be a good idea, but because of the attempts to help that person that had been made that very day, it was just terrible timing to call attention to such a remark.

It wasn't only that, though. The Quitistas had been fraying the nerves of the Good Deed Posse all week, so intensely that in combination with the troubled person seeming to become increasingly troubled, I'd begun to wonder if there might be spotty attendance in certain sock drawers, rings and nibelungen, etc.

There was a flurry of lively exchange between a few Quitistas and Good Deed Posse Operatives on the playground forum, and someone posted a picture that I am sure they will remove.

All this made LibertarianNate feel so sad that we may not be on his monitor anymore.

I'll say it once more, CB. I'm not offended.

I'm not asking you or Chief to quit posting want you want to say however you see fit to say it. I'm not trying to censor anyone here. I just happen to think level heads will prevail. Stooping to their level would likely only lead to banishment and that is a victory for them. You can't provide info if you can't post.

I spend most of time on ECF in this thread and have come to appreciate and like a lot of people here, but I think it's time for me to take a break. Both from this thread and this forum.

I wish the best to those who choose to persevere in this cause. I think it's great that so many want to help others with a "new" method to quit. It certainly has helped me.

Nope Dude, you got that right. I am the wolfman....I used XBB here as it meant ex bicker board. I left that shabby site well over a year ago or I'm sure I wouldn't have the quit I have today.

Well it doesn't sound like its permanent... I sure hope not... I saw that thread on that board where Beth posted about the aunt thing... don't know why she even mentioned it that was a long time ago. I also noticed where Beth goes Brad seems to follow except here...curious that.

Not sure I fully understand why Nate left but I certainly hope it is just a break.

And that's exactly why I left. I had about a 3 month quit going when I was there and just hanging on. The constant bs and bickering was certainly not helping so I knew I had to find a stable place or risk losing my quit.

I originally went to a very small board, which has since folded, made up of a group of people who also left the bickerboard for the very same thing. I was then fortunate enough to find NSF just before the small board folded. Without NSF I am certain I would NOT have the quit I'm proud of today.
That great board and the owner Boudee saved my quit and my loyalty lies completely with that wonderful peaceful AND most supportive board I have EVER come across.

Oh dear, well I am sure whoever SnoopyFish is, he or she is more than imaginative enough to find a replacement picture that is not a human being with feelings and loved ones, and recalling the Golden Rule, a version of which exists in every faith tradition and every culture, will put up something in its place that delivers real Premium Quality snark while at the same time is respectful of all our brothers and sisters here in the global strip mall we call earth.

I would normally agree with you lolady, except this guy (whoever he is) obviously let someone take a picture of him without (most of his) clothes on and then let that picture find it's way to the internet. I would assume that whoever took this picture is a loved one, since I don't normally let people take pictures of me in my underwear who aren't and I would think most people are the same. Is it possible that the man pictured in this photograph has no bad feelings over this photograph of himself? Sure. Although, since I assume none of us know him personally, it might be right to err on the side of caution. That's why I removed the copy that I put up here. Which might be just the thing that threw some of our members over the precipice. It was a good reminder not to let oneself be sucked into the mob mentality.

On another note, lolady... you weren't here the entire time and I am sure you didn't read every post in this thread or the one that preceded it (or if you did, wow - that was a lot of reading you had to catch up on!). I think most of us, if not all the rest of us, were aware that Beth (nitejanitor) from this board is Beth (greenlover) from the QSMB. The same exact poster who was the first to attack John when he made his initial post on the Q. I'm not sure that her alleged treachery was the straw that broke the camels back. I rather think it was the absurdity of the posting that was going on in the e-cig sub-forum at the Q board. Well, that and the un-moderated outlet to vent frustrations on the debate board. And I would point out to you that I am the one who posted the link there, and I had previously seen Beth's post there re: the aunt and all the followup comments from Brad and eraser. Posting the link here was not a calculated move on my part, but if anyone should take blame it was me for posting a link that was sure to get people riled up. I forgot that for many people here, the posts over there were previously unread and might cause hard feelings.

What Magnus has suggested isn't underhanded, or even remotely tied to the members of the Q board. It's a simple matter of posting as many links to ECF using the term "quit smoking" so search engines drive traffic here.

However, I'd be happy to join in a chat any night you all see fit. Wednesday will work for me.
