It slipped out very easily on the one that still has the wire, the dead one. And I guess it also slipped quite easily out of the one without the wire, probably stuck to the battery because of the juice. I'm no muscle man. All it took was a finger nail to pry it up a little to get a grip on it and basically it was all the way out.

Well... My mini experiment was only a partial success.

Positives
+ Vapor production
+ No perfume taste
+ Can use above 4.2v without burning
+ No leaking

Negatives
- Flavor so muted I might as well vape unflavored PG
- "Water pipe" effect... eventually disappeared
- Did not work "out of the box"

I can put up with leaking and less vapor production if the flavor is there, but right now it just isn't.

Quick and dirty Sapphire Dripper Mod

  • Pull tube off atty
  • Remove wick plate
  • Cut short piece of tube from a cracked CE2
  • Place tube on atty
  • Add drip tip
  • Drip and vape!

While I had them all taken apart I tried that. For me, they're just not very good attys for dripping. It works, you get vapor, but flavor is only so-so. On the other hand, the CE-2 is excellent for dripping. Only found that out after I stole its wick to rebuild the sapphires.

It could be my juice, but it tastes fantastic with every other atty or carto I've tried. Cartos just tend to impart additional "flavor" I don't care for.

I'm not a dripper, so I have no idea how it measures up. In practice I'll only use them to drip to taste test new mixes (or get something better for that purpose).

I doubt it's your juice, I suspect your attys. Can you measure the ohms on them?

Mine seem to be opposite of yours, good taste but muted vapor (at 3.2V). The flavor is strong enough that I'm going to try lowering my flavoring. I can live with the vapor level for now, but I'm looking forward to using them at a bit higher voltage.
