Okay finally got my MIL she's fine but did spend the night at the same hospital I was at!
I don't know why though but the house next door to her's had the entire roof ripped off by the very high winds.
I think they were very lucky it wasn't them.

Hi Hobotivo!
Where is everybody?
C.B.

Hi CB and everybody!

Glad to hear you all seemed to have weathered the storm okay, that's great to hear. It was big news here for a while, lots of shots of TV reporters leaning into the wind at about a 45 degree angle. Looks like there's some nasty flooding happening though, which isn't so good. :(

Broke my main glasses on Sunday night, which is very annoying. Rang around yesterday costing out replacements and it looks like to replace them with similar to those I broke will cost around $700 - $1,000, depending on options, which to me is ridiculous. Looking for cheaper options I've decided to try getting them made up to my prescription by one of the on-line shops operating out of China, they get some pretty good reviews on another forum I use. I should be able to get a pair of titanium framed multifocals, plus 2 backup pairs of single focus (reading and distance) for well under $150.00 which would be a huge saving. Got a booking for an eye test on Thursday to get an up-to-date prescription and then I'll order.

I never used to worry about the cost of things like that when I was working, but now I've retired I'm always looking for ways to save money. It's actually quite good fun! You get to learn lots of new stuff, I now know how to read an optical prescription. (Once again, having a (very!) basic knowledge of a few latin words came in handy. It's surprising how often it does.)

Cheers

$750+ is a good chunk of change for glasses.

I'd be sunk if I broke mine, but I've been wearing the same pair for the last 6 or so years. Tried contacts back in high school, but my eyes rejected them. I'd have to clean them every 20 minutes or else I wouldn't be able to see.

ETA: My right eye is significantly worse than my left. On a standard eye chart the top letter is an "E". If I'm being honest during an exam, I can't read that letter with my left eye covered. That's not to say I'm complaining. I know there are people who are far worse off than I.

Yes, prices for glasses in AU are ridiculously high. It's really a rip-off, the mark ups are insane. I had the pair that broke for about 8 years, as near as I can work out, they were "Flexon" brand, made of memory metal and seemed to be nearly indestructible, you could almost tie them in knots and they'd just spring back to their original shape. But even they must have limits I suppose, I was cleaning them and the bridge just broke, they weren't under any particular stress.

Never tried contact lenses, somehow I never fancied the idea. I had fantastic eyesight till I was about 45, then it just went downhill.

Cheers

...meds not even touching the pain....don't want to go back to the ER for another several hours of uselessness...

cigarbabe, there are few things worse than hours of uselessness spent languishing around the premises of medical industry vendors.

Pain is one of those few.

If the pills they gave you aren't controlling it, go back there and get some that will.

Ongoing, severe pain is even worse for us than cigarettes are. Whatever is causing it must be treated and found, to be sure, but uncontrolled pain is just as bad, and can be even worse, in terms of doing us serious and lasting harm.

The notion that there is any virtue in enduring it is a pile of warm and steaming codswallop.

On the contrary, insisting that one's pain be removed, or at the very least, substantially reduced, is a sign of perspicacity and fortitude, and frequently requires that the insistor possess the finest, rarest, and solidest quality of courage.

Lolady, I know you're not looking for big but the http://www.vaperdepot.com/ecig-mods/69-the-5v-tekk-mod caught my eye...

Thank You, Magnus, for the link, and also for the flattering implication that any many-pieced, ** atomizer-havin' kind of electric cigarette would be a good fit for my assortment of diminished and raggedy capacities.

For now, I've compounded myself a little selection of Special Wireless juice, in 3 different formulas, Regular, Industrial Strength, and Weapons Grade, which will ensure that my throat is thoroughly hit regardless of what size wireless KR808d-1 I'm puffing, and what kind of mood the ramshackle shreds of my various neuro-entourage functionaries are in.

It's my most ambitious juice Tweakage Operation to date, and the Magic Ingredients (caramel, vanilla, almond, and pecan) have made each variety taste so good that I may have to commit a Special Tangent blogrant about it.

The next blogrant is, by rights, supposed to be Implementing The Syringe Method, but my recent under-the-weatherness has not only delayed it, but given me the opportunity to practice it with hands that are even more recalcitrant and task-averse than usual, which I think is going to end up being a silver lining of additional usefulness when I finally get the blogrant finished.

Plus people might tweak something that's so good they want to use it for Syringe Practice!

1, 2, Many

lolady, you are back in top notch writing form. I hope this means you are getting over your under the weatherness?

Thank You! I hope so, too! :) Today has been promising, I was able to tweak all that juice, put it into cartomizers, and wash a load of bath towels!

So now the challenge is to heed the admonishments of the Spirits of Fatigue, force Behindedness from my mind, cease doing things, turn off the computer, and be fully Absorbed by trashy reality shows before the pills kick in, lest I fall into the tempting trap of Overdoing It, and risk littering the internet with spontaneous and involuntary spasms of trochaic tetrameter...

lolady please go back and read my offer I made previously.

I have the exact mod that Magnus was talking about and made an offer to give you that also to try!
I also received today a Smokeless Image "Volt"an 808D type device which comes with a PCC and three 380mah batteries so you don't have to be plugged in during your doctor visits. I think it's a pretty nifty little device but it isn't really my cup of port!

Nate do you suffer from presbyopia?
My husband uh oops ex husband has it.
He refuses to wear glasses to help correct the little bit it could help or to have surgery.
It looks like he is licking a book when he's reading he has to hold it so close! pmsl!

Nope. I'm near sighted. As long as what I'm looking at is within arm's reach I'm good. Beyond that, things start to get a bit fuzzy... With glasses my visual acuity is 20/15; without it's closer to 20/320.

First of all, the fact that you were under the weather lately - :( But SO glad to see you feeling better Ms. Lolady :D

LOL@syringe practice. HEY!!! Have you been spying on me??!! If you really want to go completely nutz - get some fluxomizers - while you're trying to figure THOSE out...they make pretty desk decorations if you get the green ones :D

Ms. CB!! See now, if you had the XL version of the 808D type device - port might taste a lil better..lol!! The batt life is longer than the std's. :D You also look freakishly cool holding one (just ask me) - especially if you can find a carto that is say 2+ inches long...LOL!!! However, the whole mention of the doctor visits thing....:( Sending you blessings everyday!

Randy...Mustang Sallie...Lolady..and those of you who may have freakisly cool 808D devices... on the good advice of Mr. Randy I received my Vortex's and I am in LOVE!! The new design is awesome...the vape? I dissappear in the cloud! I'm getting nearly as much vapor off my 808s as I am my pass-thru. The flavor is awesome. Couldnt be happier!

The fluxomizers? Well, I had to take myself to you tube class and STILL frustrated. But then, my vaping BFF pulled through - gave me some schooling and once you get them figured out (downside) they are awesome too - I'd rave more about them because I'm getting great vape and great flavor/TH, but still getting over the whole had to figure em out and it took too long factor...had at least 6 or 7 bright shiney objects fly by during the process... :D

I was at a concert all night...

No more GA concerts for me. They wouldn't let me bring my cane in because they thought I'd use it as a "weapon." :censored:

My foot is absolutely killing right now.

That is absolutely ridiculous.
Shame on them, SHAME!
