This is bugging me. We hear over and over how there have been no studies on whether e-cigs are effective as a smoking cessation aid. I happen to think the anecdotal evidence is overwhelming, however. But what about long term?

When NRT such as nicotine gum patches were introduced, had there already been long-term studies performed? Or did those studies develop over time, after the short-term studies proved them safe enough to put on the market?

Why the cache 22 where e-cigs are concerned? They can't be considered an effective long-term quitting aid until they've been proven effective, yet without the long-term use, how do you determine it?

Methinks the right person's palms aren't being greased, if you catch my drift...

I would think (and somebody feel free to correct me if I am wrong) that NRT was "trialed" in a way similar to prescription medication. Then they were available only via prescription for a time (even the nic gum), for many years before it was released as OTC medication. Same for the patches.

PVs have not had this type of road to follow, mainly because they were not "invented" by companies with big pockets that could pay for all of the FDA trials, funding to favorable congressmen, etc. If they HAD been invented by pfizer, they would still prolly be only via prescription and cost $300.

Sorry I should have been more specific. The patience to stalk that site to buy one. :)

Subscribe to the thread, he usually puts them up on Fridays around 1900 (7PM) EST. I've missed two buy chances because I was in class, but I already have a REO Grand and I had a Mini. Only reason I don't have the Mini anymore is because I got a Grand. Love it....

Well.. now I thought a lot of people used positive affirmations and it would help someone.

That's o.k... I'm about to get beheaded by both groups anyway. I don't give a .......n if the people don't give a chit what I say, facts are I am in keeping with the rules of posting there and that's good enough for me. The QSMB Rules do not say I have to walk on eggshells. I'm, tired of the BS - and its not coming from the administrators, its coming from a few pig headed members who think they know it all.. well I'm here to tell you.. every one of you can back out now because I for One am not gonna let these fools push me around. This is My fight. I started it, so to speak. I wont blame any of you , which I love you all, if you never wanted to have anything to do with me again. I'll miss you but I gotta do what I gotta do!

I want to see info posted over there that is fair and not bias. Giving the people all the info they need to make proper informed choices.

This. is My Demons Run.

John just remember we've made some headway there and a flamewar will just undo it all.... unless something happened while I was on break (sorry had to get a new client set up and then needed to get some Q time with the love of my life before he left on his business trip) then many of them are coming around. It looks to me like its just a handful of them and if we just keep doing what we have been doing they'll either come around or the rest of them will finally see them for what they are and take a stand....MO

Just to be clear, I wasn't upset about no one answering my post about the HAMR, I was talking about the Nicotine illustration thread QuitSmokingMessageBoard.com • View topic - Nicotine a graphical illustration

Thanks Kat.. I been meaning to ask you. - Who is that chick in your avatar over there?
I'm not concerned about that diagram. Kristin posted that same one in a different context in the e-cig section *shrug*.

Good Afternoon !

Just a thought about PMing someone....if you think someone is interested, you could post that you can always be PM'd for more info.....(surely they would know this tho....)...

You always have the greatest avatars... The last time I suggested someone pming me for more info. They used it as an example of why I was supposedly over there to peddle my non existant wares....just sayin

Nope.. Not planing a flame war. I'm just not going to hold back on correcting someone when they apply something to me that's not true. I'm going to do it wearing a silk dress as I skip through the tulips in the meadows of Yore while the birds sing and the sun shines with flowers in my hair. ( My wife would sure love to see that)
