Do you find though that the craving is exactly the same or is it different somehow?

Well John, I can't say the same thing. I STILL have a nicfit if I don't vape for a while. Granted - I can go for a longer period of time than when I was smoking, but, the urge is still there.

Case in point, today while out with my daughter's kindergarten class I didn't vape, but the nicfit started and got worse as the day went on. I had to sneak out while they were doing an activity to have a vape. Didn't immediately feel better, but it did kick in and I continued on.

I wish I wasn't addicted to nicotine, but I am. But at least I'm not smoking.

If I can cut down the nicotine to zero I will be a happy girl.

I am still getting nicotine fits/cravings. I had a bad one today but I just cut down from 18mg to 11mg yesterday. It actually hasn't been that bad (of course I have been virtually attached to my PT, which is why I am on the forums so much the last couple of days!)
I am DETERMINED to get to 0mg because I just hate having the cravings. Granted, they are MUCH more mild than they were when I smoked...I just want to be out there enjoying life instead of worrying about nicotine.

But here's my opinion, and Fred, I know you asked for our opinions in some thread but it got taken over by the e-cig people, so I'll give it here: I prefer the way the forum was before because we didn't have a million different categories. If I were a newby that came here today, I wouldn't be sure where to post, and this bothers me because I'm prob'ly gonna miss a lot of newly quit people because I flat-out refuse to post anywhere but in the main part of the forum and in Social, as I always have before. I am not gonna go into different quit-method categories. I wish you'd go take a look at the e-cig forum and read that thread of theirs... you might change your mind on what you think about them.

What thread is she talking about and why does she think it's so bad.. it's like she's telling Fred we are breaking the rules or something.

Hey Clay K

kinda rhymes

That summer that you spent in Wichita do you remember if you went to the River Festival. I have been so busy on here and elsewhere I didn't even realize it started today.

It's a River Festival. The ballpark (ferris wheel, carnival stuff) Is one block from me. Right out my front door so to speak.

Then on other side of the ballpark is the RIVER. You can't imagine how packed my neighborhood gets. I had to go to the store so I could get home in time to park at my own house. LOL

It is one of my favorite times of the year. So many fine sights .... and that's all l'm sayin' bout that. LOL So I love to sit on my porch and visit. I talk to more people this one week than I do the remainder of the year. Course that was before forums.

But I will be online some of course. The weekends are the heavy draw times. Tonight and next Saturday especially.

Back in a bit. Just wanted everybody to know that lack of nicotine has not killed me yet. Just think before long itwill have been 24 hours. The first day I have been totally nic free for at least 20 years.

Laters

Gary

PS ... expect some pictures probably

Can't recall, it was like 22 years ago... I remember some fair, but it might have been a 4H thing. I was like in HS.... Only thing I remember is all the girls there were starved for attention from the "fresh meat". Apparently, they don't get a lot of fresh blood out that way. They all grow up around each other for 15-18 years and have known everyone in their school their entire lives. I could have been Steve Urkel and still had no problems hooking up... I hardly remember much else....

Kat I'm so sorry about your kitty I lost Bailey's mother six weeks ago and while Bailey keeps me pretty entertained I still stop and think of her because I was her person and she was rarely far from me. Pets are so much more than animals.

Thanks Shannon. I have 6 cats and I love them all dearly, but she's the only one I got to choose to be mine and we had such a tight bond.

All of the others have just showed up on my doorstep - usually in -30 C (-22 F) weather.

I think God put a big sign over my house saying "cats welcome here". I can't say no to any animal who needs a warm place, good food and lots of love.

I'm sorry you lost Bailey's mom.

Sorry about your kitty-just try to think of her when she was young & playful & think she's in heaven playing with other kitties till you join her.

Thanks Beth. A friend emailed a copy of the Rainbow Bridge poem to me today. I bawled my eyes out.

If you've ever read it you'll know what I mean when I say I'm going to get mobbed when I get there.

QuitSmokingMessageBoard.com • View topic - We're Moved, Hi my old friends, FRED please read :)

She's having her big "whaaaa" moment. As in "call the whambulance!"

We aren't going away and we are slowly being accepted into the fold and she doesn't like it.

She's trying to make Fred feel bad and you can tell she's also baiting. If she can find one excuse to get us banned she will.

As for the nicfit - I got to tell you it wasn't as bad as when I smoked but I couldn't ignore either.

Anybody who has lost a beloved pet should check this out...
Rainbows Bridge Poem

It will probably make you cry, unless your heart is stone, but it keeps me sane when I think about having to put down my last dog.
I have a new dog now, but I'll never forget any dog I've ever had in my family.

And I hope I meet them all again some day, to cross the Rainbow Bridge together.
Crap, now I'm crying again.

Hey Everybody!

Sorry, yesterday was a very sad day for me. One of my oldest cats has been having some really severe health issues. I had to put her down yesterday. I'm heartbroken but know it was the best thing for her so she wouldn't suffer. :(

-lol- has made me laugh today - she's a hoot!

What's been happening over there? I haven't been yet and you know what they say - forewarned is forearmed!

Sorry about your Kitty <hugs>

This is another great site about losing a loved one with four legs...
www-hsc.usc.edu/~cypert/..../inheaven.html

This is one of my favorite quotes...

Will Rodgers said:
"If there are no dogs in Heaven,
then when I die I want to go
where they went."

Will Rogers, 1897-1935

EDIT: This forum apparently censors one of the words in the link I provided.
EDIT: Just substitute D I C K for the part that is missing.

For me one of the worst things about smoking was being a pawn where I was batted around by draconian government antismoking laws and by snide remarks of the holier-than-thou non-smokers as they walked by.

The original studies on second hand smoke had the statistics cooked (falsified) by the Anti-Smoking Federation but it was a timely study and incorporated in law after which time the ASF openly admitted that yes they had cooked the statistics to make second hand smoke worse that it really was. This made real cannon fodder of us smokers from all directions.

The single strongest reason that I had for thinking of giving up cigarettes over many years of smoking was this thing of being a pawn in a political game where democracy has failed completely to protect minorities. Alcohol rules as this is consumed by the majority.

Now with HC or the FDA rumbling around doing as they please with artificial laws and in bed with BT and BP playing with vapers rights I have this pawn feeling again.

This, to me, is a far worse feeling that being addicted to nicotine. However there is not a way to quit being a pawn other than forcing youself to give up something you like and as a vaper is close to being benign as a health risk.

I don't think I'd call it a nicfit, but I definitely have the urge to vape. I've been switching between 6 and 8mg, mostly 6 today as my new batch is steeping in, no perceptible difference.

Now, my coffee is a different story ;)
