I would never suggest anyone who has stopped smoking just try one to see what happens...

But having said that, it is very common here for people to get curious and try one.
And what almost always happens is that they hate it, think it is disgusting, and realize they never want one again.

It is actually the point at which a lot of people become secure about the fact that they have indeed quit.

The reason I would not recommend it is because there have been a few people who did have opposite reactions.
And you never know which reaction you're going to have until you try one, and by then it is too late.

As for me, I smoke a cigarette once every few months.
I've had maybe 8 or 9 in the 23 months I've been using my electronic cigarette.
I LOVE the feeling of smoking one, hating it, and realizing that it no longer holds any power whatsoever over me.

Electronic cigarettes are changing the playing field, and challenging a lot of conventional wisdom along the way.

I was actually thinking of a conversation we had a while back when I was commenting on that. How you can smoke one or two and just pffffffffffttt. I was also going to mention to her that I thought of it as "testing" my quit but didn't know what she would think of that.

I see lots of people daily mention something like "I've been vaping for 3 years but have an occasional cigarette."

With this festival going on around me there is a good chance one of my friends that stop by will have a plain old filtered cigarette. And while I may not bum one (or I may) I probably will at least take a drag off of one. I know for an absolute fact I can be cigarette free with no craving for three months.

I know that for a fact. Nah not too fraid of no cigarettes.

You've been so quiet I didn't even know you were here.

been a little busy and having some company

I find it interesting that in the nearly 2 years since I've been vaping, signing up here, reading articles, and making online purchases, I've never received an e-cig related spam email, other than newletters or sales from the vendors I've done business with. But then again, the email systems I use have good spam filters that catches most spam I'd receive otherwise.

I saw her post as nothing more than baiting... one more thing to rail against the e-cig people for.

I had a whole long post addressing that Cold Turkey thread and the things Diane accused me of, but I decided to PM it to her instead of keeping things going on that thread. Kate has posted after me, but I have her on ignore so I don't know (or really care) what she said. Though I do wish if you had someone on ignore it just hid their posts rather than announcing "THE PERSON YOU IGNORED MADE A POST! Want to see it? Huh? Huh? Do ya'??) lol!

You got hugs from katiem? Wow kristin I knew you were good but you are GOOD!

I was going to be sure to read that thread but I think I'll pass. Sounds like nonsense. I am really glad to hear though that things seem to be mellowing. It just takes time.

Still no reply from the administration or modulators at QSMB. Hopefully your accounts will just miraculously appear at some point.

I'm having my doubts. I'd like to get over there. I am toying with using a different email address. If Fred knows it's me and wants to ban me, so be it. I don't mind mentioning that here, I'd like to be up front about it. If we got lost in the shuffle, I can understand that, and if we were banned for bad behavior then I guess he can ban me again. If I do re-enlist, I'll post that it's MustangSallie from the ECF in my first post over there. I think that should be sufficient heads up for Fred if he wants to toss me out.

I also find it very interesting that a "long time member" of this forum crawled out of the woodwork right as the e-cig wars were going full force... this person must have thought they had a good opening to come back and maybe we'd forget the hate she evoked,

Do we know who she's talking about here?

Morning everyone,

First of all Kat...very sorry to hear about the loss of your cat. I know just how devastating losing a pet can be. I lost my Shepherd in January this year. Although I have a new Shep, the memory of my old Shep is still with me, but our new Shep has filled a huge hole in our hearts. So again..sorry to hear of your loss. Take care of yourself, your cat's smiling down on you..xx

Now...regarding that quote above that Rain posted..Yeah, I know who she's referring to. That would be Susan, who posted at the BB several days ago in defense of your guys. Rain does not like Susan who was a long time member, but always spoke out against the bullies.
And of course, I see she took a shot at me too. She's a vicious little ...... in the bully circle.

IT seems from recent comments nicotine is just lke alcohol it gets ahold of some people and not others.... Maybe you and I are the not and it was just the act of smoking that we needed so bad.

Maybe this is true. I mean, it's treated like crack by some folks, and I don't get it. The day I switched to vaping, I never thought of a cigarette again. After finishing that pack a couple of days ago, I don't think of them again. However, I'm constantly thinking about cigarettes when I visit QSMB. Actually, maybe the board is why it's so much trouble for them. I bought that pack the day I joined and started posting.

Sallie,

You ARE there - you are a member - I have you in my friends list over there.

Unless you didn't sign up as MustangSallie and I am now friends with someone else who resembles you!

Have you tried posting lately?

Actually, it's funny you mention it. The same thing has been happening for me.

Even though I really don't want one and I know it going to taste like crap - for the last few days now I've really been thinking about having a smoke.

And yes, I think nicotine is my crack. I had a bit of trouble in the beginning when I started vaping giving up the smokes - I would still have a few puffs on a smoke here and there.

They talk about being addicted to the other chemicals in cigarettes - I think that was some of my problem too - the other was simply coming to the realization that I could finally quit smoking and say goodbye to my 30 year old friend the cigarette.

Well it sure felt like crack to me too before I discovered vaping. So I do get it. Until you know, you just don't know. :)
