Right now it's 34 C over here, which translates to 93 F. We consider that to be very hot. Those temperatures fortunately never last long and are always followed by nice big thunderstorms with lots of rain and hail and wind and press coverage. Even before all that begins, everyone is warned to be careful in traffic, preferably returning home from work early. Trains don't go as often, but that seems to be the norm anyway in this country. There are even laws in effect that state there's a maximum to what they are allowed to go less.
To be short: all of the Netherlands is holding its breath for what's going to happen the next hours.
I suppose, comparing these conditions with what you in the US sometimes have to endure, you would likely say "maybe I'll turn the AC a bit higher", "there's seems to be a slight draft outside", "is the cat inside?" or "better take the 4WD truck to go shopping."
