"For quitting smoking, they have not been shown to work better than safer, regulated nicotine replacement products."

WHAT!? I've never heard of even one case where those replacement products have ever helped somebody quit smoking. And ECF is proof enough that vaping DOES help people quit smoking.

I have never edited a Wikipedia article but maybe it's about time.

You cannot edit it. It has restricted access. I often edit Wikipedia, so I have access, but when I tried to edit it, it was almost immediately reversed. Some people (registered editors) too tightly monitor it.

Nic`d Up in Oklahoma!
The same people who invented and promoted fake news, now rail against it and say its a threat. The spin is getting weak with these sods. Their games are played out.

I say ignorance is the real threat. And those that take advantage of those poor souls are nothing short of evil.

FWIW, as a 40 year smoker I found e-cigs to be a reliable if not legitimate cessation alternative. It worked for me. Nope, I`m not an egg head, just a successful vaper working on his 3`rd year smoke free.

I quit smoking Jul 2006, without vaping--i had never even heard of an 'ecig' back then.

Quitting smoking sucked canal water!!!
Couldn't afford analogs even if i was tempted to backslide--divorce broke me. And i was really moody for at least the first year.

Picked up vaping in 2013, and i really enjoy it, esp the rebuilding part of it. Looking back at my quit journey, vaping would have been so awesome.
I have thought about quitting vaping too at some point. But i just don't feel like it. I enjoy it alot, and consider it a reward at the end of my work day

I hope that all of this hysteria about it goes away. I try to be hopeful--as the general public tends to have a short attention span.

My wife quit originally with Chantix. She was only able to stay on it for 2 weeks because of terrible nightmares but it did get her off the cigs. She was close to relapsing just a few days later when a friend suggested vaping. I went to the shop and got her an Evod, and one for myself. She never smoked again. Don't know whether she would have succeeded through the Evod without the initial boost from Chantix. Took me another year and some better hardware to quit completely.

We had both tried mall kiosk cigalikes and patches and lozenges and all the rest over several years without any success, though I did manage to stay clean for 5 months using that stuff around some major surgery. My life pretty much depended on it at the time.

I would have to say that Chantix is a mixed picture. It does help some people stop smoking, but the side effects are real and serious. One problem is that people tend to divide into pro and anti positions without any acknowledgement of contrary evidence. Like with a lot of topics these days.

I've never met anyone who managed to quit using just patches or gum. But it does seem to happen if you believe the statistics. My guess is if you are serious about quitting and ready to do it, anything is more likely to work.

Fwiw--i joined a sort of 'AA' type of program,2006--at the hospital system where i am employed. That year--they banned smoking by anyone on the premises. Sorta sucked--because even a patient's family member or visitor--couldn't smoke. Not even in their pov.

I got about a months worth of nic gum free. Would only chew it after my shift. After i ran out of gum, i chewed on black pepper corns for about 2 years--as my brand Marlboro always tasted 'peppery' to me. I had no cigs in my house--threw them away. Changed stores that i shopped at--and would not step foot in a convenience store.

After my post-divorce funds improved--i bought Wally-world brand nic gum--and chewed the heck out of it, until i began vaping in 2013.

I was able to quit. My motivation was being flat-broke. But giving up nicotine made me really, really OCD. I tend towards that naturally anyway. I don't know why--but my brain functions so much better with nicotine. I wish that i was different, and i wish that i could function without caffeine and nic.

Merry Merry!!!!

Sir, I feel I must post a response to this as a one time + for alternative nrt.

My father, a 50 year hardcore rolling tobacco smoker who, over the years has fallen on and off the wagon finally quit with the little sprays to your tongue.

Although I think it is all in his head. He is adamant that the nicorette spray and his conviction is the total reason that he managed to give up.
He tried a crappy ecig before his nicorette and it didn't work for him. After a year of using only nicorette sprays he kept looking at my vape and wanted another go.
I bought him a nautilus mini and gave him an istick 20.
He said he didn't like the feeling in his lungs anymore and still only uses nicorette sprays.

Each to his own, I guess.
