As usual, CNA likes to pick up news that is in-line with government policy. There are so many news that is positive about e-cigs, including numerous lab test and results but I have never read that in CNA. I maybe biased, but there will be too many links for me to list that down as reference.
Back to this news, yes, it will be a sad day for us, vapers. This kind of news (and the test) painted a very in-accurate picture of vapping;
- The picture on the right about the e-cigs with high concentration of carbonyl compounds in the report, it looks so burnt. Who in the right mind will continue to vape on something like that which most likely will taste burnt.
- The test seems to be based only on cigalikes that is commonly sold in Japan. Who knows how dry the cartridge was before the test? They did not explain how the cigalike was prepared before the test? Both picture of the atty looks dry to me and they did not mention what
juice or cartridge they use (if any at all).
- Where does Dr.Kunugita get the "10 times higher level of formaldehyde" compared with analogues from? Read this
E-cigarette aerosol contains 6 times LESS formaldehyde than tobacco cigarette smoke
- However, the last sentence in the report is rather important that "suppliers and users of E-cigarettes should pay attention to this phenomenon".
Sadly, most people (the public) that do not use e-cigs or even those who were just trying to convert will not read between the lines, into the details, and this will only create further social stigma for us, vapers.. And dissuade potential smokers to the wonderful world of vaping...
Just a side-note, I have been staying in Japan for quite sometime. You can't help but sometime wonder how powerful some big corporations are when it come to setting Japan's government policies. Maybe next news from Japan will be a news saying vaporiser are safer than e-cig... try Ploom etc.. (JT just invested in ploom)... mind you, (IMHO) they are essentially the same...
For me, it's a vape on!!
