E-Cigs and Firealarm systems!?

• Have anyone experienced that firealarms will go off when vaping in the same room?

I tested this out like 6 months ago with a e-Gar and the firealarm did go off when I was BLOWING vapor on it (like 6 inches away). Why did this happend?



I suppose analogs can make firealarms go off too.. but I am kinda afraid to vape in rooms with firealarms .. e.g. if you are at a friends house and smoke and the firealarm will freak out, that would be embarrassing as hell!

I read somewhere, where they were discussing e-cigs on airplanes, that some detectors not only detect smoke particles, but also have visual sensors. i would imagine a visual sensor could pick up vapor if you were close enough to it and the vapor was thick enough.

Yes, smoke detectors aren't chemical analyzers -- there are two mechanisms by which they work, but both types detect the same thing: particulates in the air. Dust, steam, and vape fogs will set them off just as well as smoke.

It takes a reasonably dense fog, though. If you're nervous, you can hold the vapor in your lungs for a couple of seconds, which will make the exhaled fog lighter.

I tested this with my smoke detector in the garage ceiling above where my ashtray goes. That's my new pv station so I tend to vape a lot right there. I was able to make the smoke detector go off with a few huge blasts of vape exhaled straight on it. Other than trying to set it off, it doesn't seem to be an issue with normal vaping.
