Why do I get Nervous when I read things like This...

“There will be some surprises in the final rule, things people aren’t anticipating,” said Andrew Perraut of the San Francisco advisory firm Radiant Strategies and former staffer at the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs."

Maybe I'm just too Cynical. But surprises when it comes from Regulatory Agencies are Seldom a good thing.

I know, it scares me too.

They do secret things behind closed doors that affect the public. Yet they don't let the public have a say in what they deem necessary for our life. It scares me even more when they know it is going to be something we won't like that they feel it has to be kept hidden.

Actually they do - in the comment period - BUT they treat that much like Bill O'Reilly does his emails - he picks and chooses ones that back his views, and praises their "intelligence"... or he takes the idiot emails to show how much his detractors are 'pinheads'. FDA basically does the same - and populate most of their 'seminars' with ANTZ, restricting THR any voice. Politician emails are form letters not taking any stance but assuring you that they will take your 'thoughts' into consideration.

And the idea of being able to 'contribute' tends to pacify certain types who actually think their 'voices' are being heard. Not saying that sometimes they aren't, just that no one will ever know that for sure and the resulting rules usually show - no, no one heard anything we said. :- )

Seems as though we may have gotten through to one. They've deleted their own comments. A few were in response to mine and someone named 1Reasonable1 <~ Love that name! :D

Here, apparently, is the "industry guidance" part of the leaked FDA document. http://tveca.com/tveca_docs/industry_guide_draft_tveca.pdf?mc_cid=ca32e06b7c&mc_eid=43d99185c5
The restrictions are so excessive and overbearing the intent is clear. Ecigs would be hard to tax comparable to taobacco. A 1 liter bottle of 100mg concentrate ($50) replaces $9,000 worth of cigarettes for me. If the ecig business can't be eradicated the $800 billion a year global tobacco business is a dead duck.

Now that I'm doing DIY I believe the driving influence to switch will be to save money, not for health per se. A lot of poor people smoke. They love their kids just like more prosperous people. The money they can save by switching would do a lot for their kids. Two smokers I know who switched say the thing they like most is the extra money available to spend on their kids.

Not only the money saved meaning more for the kids, but the health saved and the kids have their parents for longer. Not only that, look how much money we are putting back into the economy. I now take vacations, which spreads the wealth to other states. Jobs have been created which then adds to the economical climate.

Why do I feel like I am bashing my head against a brick wall when dealing with the government and the FDA....... The bricks are not crumbling yet and I've been bashing my head against them for too damn long.

I feel your pain, Robino.

And I don't like surprises. Especially from the government...

I don't see how anything coming from a member of "the San Francisco advisory firm Radiant Strategies and former staffer at the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs" can possibly be good news.
