Does anybody know the polarity of eGo battery? Is central electrode positive or negative? I guess it's positive but not sure. Also do you know if this is possible to charge e-Go battery just by connecting battery's electrodes to the charger with wires?

I've bought eGo battery just to survive while my e-pipe mod is in repair. I presumed it can be charged with USB cable but this one can't.

You mean you thought that you could plug the eGo battery straight into a USB port without any charger or anything? In that case no.

With an eGo charger, you can charge it through the USB port, though. I'm not aware of any eGo batteries that you can simply plug into a USB port, that would require the battery to have a male USB connector on it, something none of them have. The USB passthrough does have this ability, but one could argue it's basically a charger built into the battery.

As far as charging the battery by connecting another charger straight to the battery posts, that's not a great idea. It could work for charging the battery, but there is the very real chance of over-charging the battery, which could lead to a simple dead battery, or outgassing and fire.

USB is not an option. My eGo battery doesn't have any USB connector, either male or female. That's exactly my problem.
So I want to connect eGo battery to another kind of charger. I have a charger for 18350, it's Li-Ion too, same 3.7V voltage, same capacity. I concur that's not a great idea but I only need this as a temporary solution for a few days while my e-pipe is in repair. If I'd order eGo charger tomorrow it would be delivered at Monday in the best case. I think I'll order it anyway.

So I got a connector from 510 dual-coil clearomizer and connected its wires to my charger's electrodes. Looks like it works, the amperage is exactly the same as when I charge my 18350 batteries: 210 mA. Will it charge eGo properly? Let's try and see. I hope with such a low current it's unlikely to damage the battery.

Thank you all very much for the discussion. I didn't expect to get responses so fast.

You are missing something here, Antoly.

The Ego batteries screw into their own charger. This charger then connects by USB plug to EITHER your PC's USB port or a wall-wart that delivers the necessary voltage via a USB outlet.

The wall-wart you can do without but you MUST have the Ego battery charger.

FYI - eGo batteries fresh off the eGo charger reads 3.4-3.5V, NOT 3.7V.

Man....that's a disappointment.

Kind of off-topic, but I thought eGos were 3.7, are ALL of the eGo batts only 3.4? I've got a Smok Tech brand, btw.

If that's the case, then I'm really excited to see how these EMDCCs will work on a full 3.7v, because they perform like a champ on my ST 900mAh batts.

eGo batts are 3.2-3.4 operating voltage. The 'new' KGos are 3.7.

Agreed!

I should have specified...I'm using the Joye eGo batteries. I'm not sure about the your Smok Tech.

Now is a good time to highlight the fact that eGo has come to refer to both eGo the brand and eGo the style. Think Kleenex. Most people refer to all facial tissues as Kleenex, whether they are actually using that particular brand or not. Similarly, all fat batts have come to be referred to as eGos, and many vendors even refer to their products as eGos when they are not. Some fat batts are not as good as eGos, some are better than eGos. A genuine eGo produces ~3.3V under load. Other fat batts that look quite similar will have voltages anywhere from 3.2V to 3.7V. Your Smok Tech, coming in at close to 3.7V, is not an eGo, but in this case, that's a good thing.

Generally, I have found the dual coils to be satisfactory on any of the fat batts, although there is a noticeable increase in heat closer to 3.7V.

That's a very good point. Brand and style, I mean. I am always wondering while seeing people arguing about some XXX product when one of them says "XXX is awesome" and other says "XXX is terrible", not suspecting that they are talking about different products from different manufacturers, although both are named XXX.

BTW I could charge my "e-Go" battery (not sure if this is e-Go or not, :) ) using 510 connector and 18350 charger. No problems, although I'd not like to recommend anybody to do this except as a last resort.
