I am wanting to make a mostly VG juice and using the e juice calculator. The PG keeps coming up a negative number, even if i put 30% PG. I know i saw this somewhere in the threads about negative numbers but I cannot find it.

My goal is to make a mostly VG juice. My nicotine is in PG and my flavorings are in PG but I really dont want to add a whole lot extra PG other than that. I need to add distilled water also to make the VG thin enough to go through cartos. I have made some all VG juice with no nicotine but there is absolutely no flavor or anything and I need more flavor and hit and was hoping to do so without having to buy other equipment. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank!

I've addressed this before. I think you'll find it quite impossible to make a mostly VG concoction if your nic is based in 100% PG. If it is possible, it would be very difficult to achieve.

edit: you can do it if you don't use flavor. But how about this. Mix your 30/70 vg/pg, and then add flavor. The PG added shouldn't be very much, as flavor isn't going to add very much PG. But you wont get the exact mix that you want.

On the calculator i had about 15% flavoring. I was thinking if say i was making 10 ml and put in 7 ml of VG, then 1 ml of nic, 1 ml of flavoring and 1 ml of distilled water (instead of the extra PG it wants me to add) then it would be kind of like a 80/20 VG/PG? But it really probably wouldnt have much flavor.

That would be 10% flavoring, which would still be about 25% PG, and slightly less than 5mg.

Well, that's not technically correct, maybe this calculator counts the water as PG?

That should be 20% PG; 10% for the nic and 10% for the flavor. But water at 10% would make that 30%.

Seems I found a glitch somewhere...

Mgordon, yeah i believe i failed to mention that little fact in my first post lol. I have been trying to go lower on the nic so that is not a problem for me. The main problem is the total lack of flavor with the mostly VG mixes, but i cant seem to tolerate a lot of PG. I know that a higher voltage device would be helpful but cannot really afford that route right now!

OK, I didn't see you wanted to make 5mg nic in your first post. Problem with switching up from 100% PG nic mix, is that you'l end up with a way lower nic content than what you (I) want. My nic is 24mg. The nic will always get lowered if I want to use VG as a base.

I'd get so sick if I vaped 24mg, even 12 got to me. I vape 10mg these days. I went down to 8, but that wasn't enough for me, so 10 it is! Maybe I'll try some 9 next time I mix...

Yeah Wizard. That should be a rule of thumb, and part of the DIY guide. VG based liquid, buy your nic in VG. PG based, buy it in PG. You just open your options to better tweaking if you have the correct base to begin with. I think it's quite impossible, for me at least, it's impossible to do a 24mg nic solution if I want 30pg 70vg. I could come close, if I don't have any flavor at all, but it can't be done.

edit:
I guess getting nic in 100mg helps to open the options too. I have 60mg, but even with 100 I can only have a top 6 percent flavor with my scenario above.

My take on this is if you're gonna buy 100mg nic you might as well get it in VG either way - unless you vape straight PG, that is. We like having options :)

Even working in straight VG as I do once I add flavoring my juices end up only being 70%-90% VG.
