I have recently purchased 50ml bottle of USA Mix 24mg juice that should have been made by Dekang according to the retailers website. It just so happens that this liquid has that HORRIBLE chemical type smell to it. Some have said its sort of like a bad perfume, but i have no idea what this stuff actually smells like or is. It vapes like PG and has the same feel and consistency to it, but has absolutely no tobacco taste whatsoever, only that horrid industrial taste and smell. Whatever on earth is in this ..... cannot in any way be safe to inhale. it gives me an instant stomach wrenching feeling after just one hit on my PV.

I love vaping as much as the next guy, but im seriously starting to wonder about quality control when it comes to this ejuice and other juice components that people use that come out of china (where quality control and poisonous chemicals are found on a regular basis in places they shouldnt be). considering that ecigarettes arent being currently regulated by anyone in the US, there could be an insane amount of toxins in juice. not saying that there is, but the potential is there considering that the company has no one to stop them, and no repercussions if toxic chemicals, whether intentionally, or accidentally, where introduced into ejuice.

i know that other tests have been done, but i havent heard of one being done on any so called "bad" juice, like the stuff i got.

I was hoping, through the collective knowledge of this forum, that someone could inform me of somewhere i could get a chemical analyses done on a sample of this juice i received. To my limited knowledge, mass spectrometry should be the most accurate way of obtaining the identities of all the elements, and trace chemicals present in this juice. The more accurate the reading of the test, the more substances will be found and the better we can understand whats going on, as even something extremely diluted can be dangerous over time.

Hopefully this could help shed some light on the one fundamental question of PV's.. Are they safe.

in most situations they probably are, but if there was a bad batch of juice like mine, which i hear about quite often.. and someone used high amounts of it, is it just bad tasting and smelling? or is it actually dangerous? i want to find out.

anyone with any information on the above, please feel free to comment or send me a PM with testing locale or anything else you feel might be beneficial.

Sounds like Dekang to me, LOL. But, I have seen a few supplier posts that said there was a problem with some of the plastic bottles from Dekang that caused odor/taste to leach into the juice. I would suggest contacting the company you got it from, and/or posting in their sub-forum. Where did you get the juice from?

lol other then this bottle, ive had great luck with dekang juices. good flavor, great throat hit, and ok vapor. i bought one of the 50ml bottles off of madvapes. im gonna try letting the liquid sit out in a glass in my room and see if i can get this smell to evaporate off maybe. i was going to say it smells like something leached out of the plastic, but the smell is so strong its making me beleive that it was added as a processing aide. its prolly some kind of alcohol.

i def will. i think im going to call them tomorrow since im off work and see what they say about it. hopefully theyll replace it but im not sure if thats going to happen.

Well, at least it could give a pointer to a possible bad batch. Most of the suppliers here are really great people. And they are real. They understand that they are dealing with potential issues, and I've seen hundreds of quickly corrected issues. I'm sure it could just be a bad batch, but talking with these people is really great.

I don't mind dekang tobacco. I know what you are talking about with the chemical taste. I have it in mine also and it's 2 months old. I've tried popping the top off and letting it sit but still doesn't change it. I mix mine with double flavor 555 from FSUSA. Makes everything mellow out and very enjoyable. Chemical taste disappears. I am wondering if it's just the juice itself. I've bought it from China vendors and also USA vendors, different flavors. Same thing in each of them. Same funky low key chemical taste. I've never gotten sick from it so I think it's whatever they use to make it. I like RY4 from dekang also but I mix a little bit of caramel in it and the taste is awesome. IDK what it is really but definitely does have a different taste.

Like Freaky said, contact the vendor and see if anyone else has had the same problem as you.

GC-MS testing costs about $300 per sample, less for bulk testing. All it will give you is a list of chemicals, the same as you can find on this site if you search for 'DK liquid analysis' or similar. The chemical names will be unrecognisable and give you no clue as to their toxicity even if you search out an MSDS for them, since the standard wording for all materials in an MSDS except in exceptional circumstances is basically "It's toxic, can be used in chemical warfare" (even for normal food additives / skincare products such as glycerine/glycerol/glycerin [propane-1,2,3 triol] - try it).

For example, an ingredient that might be seen in a DK liquid is:
2,6,6-trimethyl-2-cyclohexen-1

Investigation reveals it's a synthesised component of rose oil. That information doesn't really tell you if it is harmful or not. Synthetic flavors can be harmless or highly toxic to inhale in large quantities (like diacetyl), you probably need to be a biochemist to know how to find out more.

If it worries you, you should change to an e-liquid without an ingredient list a mile long. Whether that would be any healthier or not, no one knows. It might make you feel better though.

To be honest that's what I do, most of the time, and it allows me to go overboard once in a while with one of the 'lethal cocktail' types without feeling too bad. You can get e-liquids with 4 or 5 known-safe ingredients only - but they don't taste as good as the technicolor megamixes of course.

Like anything, it's all a matter of choice.
