:danger: I am very confused.
Hi everyone! I am new to vaping.. obviously. Anyway, I have an ego T with a mini protank attached (it has the coil at the bottom)
so, I find it easy to fill up without getting it down the centre tube but after i have been vaping for like 10 mins, some e liquid seems to collect on the metal part of the battery where you screw in the tank, is this a problem with my technique or should I not worry about it?
-I'm pretty sure that some e liquid droplets come up from the centre tube too as it still tastes like the e liquid. or does the condensation taste similar? i dunno.
But before I vape again, I clean out the battery and get the e liquid out and same with the centre tube.

Also, at one time, I got e-liquid in my mouth.
And now I am thinking twice about vaping. But I have come here for advice on technique and stuff.
I vape the same as breathing and it goes into my mouth and not straight into my lungs. Should i draw out the vapour more slowly or what? :?:I am just a little confused. :vapor:

Any help is appreciated!! o_O

Welcome! and congratulations on taking up vaping. :)

No panic, you don't need to think twice, we all had these sorts of teething troubles.

Do you have more info on the tank? There are a few versions (v.1,2,3) and no shortage of clone tanks too. (Some good, some bad).

Drawing hard (rather than slow and relaxed) can suck up some unwanted juice, but in general, these older tanks do not come with a 100% performance certificate.

I use(d) the original mini PT1 and the larger PT2 with airflow base & the later cotton coils and overall they are fairly reliable, but still not perfect.

Not able to guess the exact problem, you will get lots of ideas/thoughts when the forum is in full steam ahead. In general though, lack of airflow and low power batteries are not a great combo and you need a bit of luck with your liquid thickness and your inhale technique.

With the right power, a fresh (ish) coil and not 'pulling' too hard, some of these tanks are usable.

When you puff continue drawing after releasing the power button, this will remove all the vapour and reduce liquid build up in the chimney.
If you've had a couple dry hits on a coil chances are good there is some cotton missing now, this will lead to leaking.

If it gets too gurgly, remove it from the battery and gently blow thru it into a tissue to open up the airway/chimney. hth. Cheers.

The Protank mini usually come with silica wicks, so you won't have cotton burning. There is also only one version.

There are newer cotton coils (called socc) available that work very well, but the principles are the same.

It is pretty natural to get a bit of liquid on the battery connection from time to time, so no big worries there unless it becomes a pain. Just wipe it every now and then.

If you draw more gently and slower, and continue to draw just a bit after you let go of the button, you might eliminate some of the condensation and juice in the mouth.

Excessive leaking may mean you need to change the coil or it's loose.

I had a Kangertech mini Protank 3 that kept leaking at the bottom(where the coil screws in) and once I got some new o-rings it fixed the problem. It might not be your problem, but they're cheap. Worst case scenario your out $2.

A drop or two of eliquid on your battery connection is not a big deal - clean it off with a qtip. Anything more needs to be looked into. You can clean the battery connection with a qtip dipped in alcohol - I have a dedicated small container with 90% alcohol that I dip one end of a qtip into, try to get as much excess alcohol off, go over the battery connection with the qtip, and use the dry end to take care of any excess moisture. I also clean the base of the tank, where it connects to the battery, this way.

Make sure your coil is snug in the base - not so tight that you need pliers or heavy duty equipment to get it off, not so loose that it will not form a seal. Finger tight is good.

I have been vaping a few years now, and I still have to remind myself to watch how I draw. Quick, sharp intake is not good. Slow, gentle draws work better. Remember, this is not a cigarette. I have been off cigarettes for around 10 years now, and vaping for around 4, but still, when my grandson, who has autism, is having a meltdown, I tend to draw sharp and heavy on my vape, and then wonder why the danged thing is gurgling.

I have had some success in cleaning Kanger single coils, used by the Protank 2 and Protank 2 Mini. I usually get an extra 2-3 uses out of each coil by cleaning them. I have not had as much success with the dual coils, but it is worth a try. Coils can also be rewicked and/or recoiled, depending on your preference.

i guess I just need to improve my technique by practicing.

There is a lot of good advice in this thread! I am surprised by the amount of people who have replied. This is the best forum I have ever been on. Usually nobody cares about questions I ask.

We care. It's because it's so important for us all.

Most of the regulars used these tanks (clearos) in the past as we followed the progression of the technology. I had 5 mini Protanks are one point in time.

I found the version 1 and 2 to be the best and got them out of the vaping box last year (?) when Kanger introduced the cotton coils (SOCC) for them. Basically, Kanger were selling the same coil and cotton many of us had been 'rebuilding' for these back in 2013/14 or so.
I still have many packets. Stocking up for the European regulations which might limit certain products.
At less than $3.70 a pack from China, it was worth buying lots. :)

I beg to differ with you there is three versions of the protank mini 1 and 2 are single coil 3 is a dual coil.
