If you are not sure about what e liquid to buy, especially if you are a starter, you should definitely buy a sampler pack. Peoples will tell you their favourite brands, but sometime, what they like you might hate it ! I tell you from my own experience.
The idea is trying many different flavours and then buy a big bottle of it. Smokeless image have some sample packs (Smokeless Image | Only The Best Electronic Cigarette | Refill Cartridges) smooth and sweet, so you can try out all their e liquid.
10ml last a month for me , because I am more of social/party smoker (I usually have 24mg pre-party and move to 36mg after few beer:) . Anyway, it All depends on your old smoking habits, you will find out soon anyway (heavy ones can vape up to 3 to 5ml a day).
Good vaping and enjoy the volt, I found it to be the best and the most practical :)

from what I've read heard... the Volt Cartomizers are awesome but they are really picky about the liquid u put in them... For example if you use really thick VG juice it will smoke but for some reason the cartomizer dries up really fast versus if you use thinner juice... I still havent got my volt, but the general consensus is that when u refill if u want it to last use thinner liquid... use thicker liquid and u will have to be topping it of more often...

just my 2 cents

To add to the above: In my experience ALL cartos prefer a thinner liquid. As do all cartridges and atomizers. I have read of people thinning their thick liquids with a drop of PGA or distilled water, but I haven't tried this myself.
I consider myself fortunate in that I prefer high PG and I like a lot of clear flavors.

I do use 50/50 pg/vg blends sometimes, and they seem to work pretty well in horizontal coil cartos like the volts.

I own the Volt, and refill my cartos. I personally recommend buying the Volt liquid off their website if you like the flavor(s) that came with your cartos.

If not, then yea, thick liquid can give you problems. I've had a few go bad on me and refuse to vaporize if I overfill with thick liquid. I find that if you are going to use thicker liquid, you need to only fill them 50-75% of the way full to prevent the problem mentioned.

On the plus side, I've had some of the cartos still working since my initial purchase, with some refilled 5-10 times now :)

For me, 10ml lasts about 5 days.

I haven't had any trouble with thick juices in my volt cartomizers.

My suggestion: buy sample packs or small bottles from juice vendors, not hardware vendors. Some of the juice vendors are doing mind-blowing things. A few that are mentioned on these board a ton for quality juice (I haven't tried them all):

Backwoods Brew
Vaperite
Alien visions (AVE)
Miss T's bakery
Kick Bass Vapors
Halo
Vermilion river
Deejstuff

And then within that group there are even some that specialize in sweet or some that specialize in tobacco. The juice is arguably more important than your pv (IMO) sontake some time to get some quality stuff. It has made all the difference for me.

SI's 555 is really good IMO. The average vaper usually vapes anywhere between 2-5ml of juice a day (I am about 2ml on a typical day).

I am a huge Alien Visions fan (avejuice) when it comes to juice. The only thing about avejuice is that all of their juices are very high VG based (90-100%), so if your not a high VG fan it may be a problem. I say give them a try regardless though. Their juices are exceptional and Porphy is a great guy!

Are there and liquids that come in larger sizes that you can recommend?

Si currently only offers either prefilled cartos or 10ml juices, but from what I have heard they will be offering bigger bottles in the near future. The majority of juice sites offer bigger bottles, 6ml, 10ml, 12ml, 18ml, 30ml, and even 100ml. Avejuice use to only offer 6ml, 12ml, 18ml, and 100ml, but just last month began offering the standard 30ml sizes (yay! lol). My main vape is Boba's Bounty from avejuice (with Gorilla Juice and Hype as my follow-ups, all from avejuice) and I try an always keep a nice amount in stock (Boba's and Gorilla's don't stay in stock long usually because of the huge demand). The best thing to do when starting with a new juice company is to order the sampler sizes to see if your going to like them first. Once you start finding what juices you want to vape, 30ml is usually the standard size bottles to keep in stock. :)

Im tempted to get some juice from Alien Visions. My question (to anyone who has used them) is, are their 100% VG juices thick, or do they have the consistancy of PG... thats what Im after. I've been using goodprophets VG which has a PG like consistancy. I dont want to feel like Im pouring syrup.

Anyone got any insight?

ETA: Also... why no menthol at AV?

For the most part, ave's juice has a really good consistency considering the high VG count. I have never had any trouble getting a carto to wick nicely with any of their juices. As to the menthol question, ave does carry menthol drops that can be added to any juice. Menthol Drops

Thanks madmartyr. I should mention agian, that Im inquiring about their 100% VG. I did see that they offer a PG/VG mix. And also, you should know that Im using mainly kr808-D cartos and the cigeasy Go-Go.

As for the menthol drops, I apologize for not mentioning that I saw them too. I've made the mistake of dripping menthol juice into a cart filled with 555 and its disgusting to me. So, Im at a loss as to what I would add the m-drops to? Again, I had sampled goodprophets VG menthol and it was awesome. Not overly minty, not too menthol-y, and had a slight tone of tobacco.

Ugh... this really sucks when your favorite juice supplier stops carrying the stuff that got you hooked on them!!!!!
