Great post. This sums it up nicely.

I know there will be people out there that will say to me

"you are somking antifreeze"
"That stuff will kill you"
"All of these should be banned, they are unsafe"

I'm glad that I know the rest of the story.

Ugh! I'm already so sick of hearing "you're smoking antifreeze". Hopefully this will die down at least to the point of Joe Public not having to give their spoon-fed opinion at every given moment very, very soon.

Great article, but the big problem is that articles like this and others that make sense need to be posted on main stream media outlets (in which the FDA has enormous control over regarding the ecig), and not just posted on distributors sites.

Authors of articles like this needs to find sites that offer Press Releases that could allow a possibility of an article making it in the mainstream media.

Right now, the FDA can outright LIE about the e-cig (which they are) and use massive media to pump out the misinformation to instill fear into the public. If they can't outright ban them, make it so nobody wants to use them to get off the real things.

Philip Morris's wet dream finally came true.

This is a linked to article written by Michael Siegel on the Rest of the Story blog. (Suprised TW didn't mention that, maybe they did and I missed it)

Dr Siegel does have access to mainstream media and seems to be a supporter of e-cigs. He has written several blogs about the issue.

Yea BigJim - It still fits right in line with my hypothesis from last month before any of this "study" hit - Look ahead - All this BAD JUICE is pulled then PM releases its own version of the e-cig in 1-2 years with -

NEW AND IMPROVED - FDA APPROVED E-JUICE!

They can even use the same tests they are using now with the accent on different conclusions - How crazy am I? - This is EXACTLY how you play the media to prep the ground for that scenario to unfold - They are not trying to stamp out the E-cig - They are trying to control it and corner the market - Build up the bad press to gain public awareness (bad news travels faster than good) - Then offer their version as the solution once everyone knows about the concept - bahhh bahhh derrr = Watch the sheeple follow -

Well, this makes sense. I am sure that PM and others are trying to solve one of their biggest problems: attrition.

Imagine seeing your customers switching to e-cigs -- devices that actually seem to work and if not controlled massively increase the attrition rate. I don't think the CEO of PM would be getting a big bonus for losing customers and not doing anything about it.

When PM comes out with e-cigs, it will be with full support of the government (it will be taxed the same way as tobacco is taxed) and PM will be the hero of anti-smoking advocates for saving lives and children.

What will PM get? People that quit smoking will be buying PM ecigs.
