I was at the Caps game last night with a buddy, and because my seats were so crumby we ended up watching the entire second period on a TV in the walkway. We were able to talk, get beers and vape. I got some funny looks as people walked by but only one person asked me about the e-cig (the black EVO) in the half hour I was using it.
Then, low and behold, some bright yellow event staff come and stand 5 feet from me and bud. It's obvious the two ladies are trying to watch me without me noticing. I say **** it to my friend and go back to puffing. Immediately I am bombarded with "you can't smoke here..." I try to explain it to them, but they aren't having it at all. The more reasonable of the two's main concern is that it looks like smoke on the security cameras. I lie and say that I use it at CAPS games all the time (this was the first time). So they call a supervisor for me.
I explain the e-cig to the guy, take it apart, blow a puff and the first thing the guy says is, "it's not smoke, if there's no smoke it's fine." This sends the original two ladies into a frenzy. Immediately they are like "but it looks like smoke..." and blah blah. The supervisor then says, "Fine, you can't use it in the building." and walks away. Obviously he really didn't care about the issue and just wanted to get away from these two annoying-as-all-get-out women.
So I think from now on, I'll enjoy the e-cig and the looks it gets but hide it when i notice staff/security. just in case...
