Glad I am not in Singapore.....
An illegal gathering? How odd!
Fish is correct, I noticed recently that using someone else's wireless network without permission in the UK is an offence because someone was arrested for it I believe.
Trafficking is punishable by death? Wow.
By the way cigarettes are ridiculously expensive here too - 20 Marlboro Lights cost at least £6 / $12 USD, how much are they over there?

Thanks for posting a fact instead of a fear. This is not the way the U.S. law is worded, but in essence, this is a practice becoming common for our FDA regulatory agency. It bodes poorly for authorizing e-smoking. If it looks in any way like smoking, it will not be allowed.
The absolute certainty is that regulation lies ahead of us. If nothing else, the world needs assurance that e-smoking is in fact safer than smoking tobacco. We really can't say this and back it up with science. We just "assume" it. That proves nothing and will get nowhere with authorities.
On the other topic: Recognize when change has overtaken practice. Smoking cigarettes in public is over. It is history. The tide will not turn. Bans will spread. One hundred thousand smokers could march on Parliament and nothing will change. The "good old days" are not returning as far as public tobacco smoking is concerned (and that bothers me because I smoke a pipe in public sometimes). No politician dare even smoke a cigarette in the United States now. A cig smoker would not win an election. There is no "pro smoking" contingent in Congress.
Do remember that only one in five people smoke cigarettes where I live. And cigarette smokers are the least educated, least affluent members of society, by census survey. They do not have the clout to force change. They do not have the numbers to vote it in. The rich and powerful have the politicians and votes. Smoking cigarettes will never again be accepted and freely practiced. Find a better way to get nicotine.
haha fellow edmwer ah.... i using a penstyle... and i have not a single idea what model it is... bought it from ecig.com.... used it for nearly 3 weeks and still kicking...
you got any idea how much is the supplier selling the carts?....
i still have ard 30 carts left leh...
Which supplier u talking about? Someone PMed me the local supplier's number but i haven call to check yet.
Hey Spider a pack of marlboro lights costs roughly around 9 USD.... but if by comparisons on the standard of living, for us this is really expensive.... and owning a Car is at least twice as expensive as in the US i believe....owning a honda civic can cost SGD70k... roughly ard USD50k?...... its even worse for property.... a small 100 sqr metre flat costs between SGD 250k-500k, a similar sized condominium on average is ard SGD 1m.. Singapore is not really an expensive place to visit as compared to Japan or England... but it sure is an expensive place to survive in for citizens like me....
Yeap i believe Singapore is one of the most autocratic democratic country....
In terms of smoking being prohibited, smoking is NOT allowed in enclosed public places(e.g. shopping malls), when in a queue (yes any queue), in public toilets, in clubs and pubs (unless there is a smoking room with an independent ventilation system) all restaurants and coffeehouses (unless a in a designated smoking area)
unlike in the US, there is NO freedom of speech ... thats why defamation suits are a common thing in singapore... especially those who dared offend our great Minister Mentor Mr. Lee Kwan Yew... and in case you're wondering... Mr. Lee was the 1st prime minister of Singapore... when he relinquished his position, a Senior Minister position was created.... and even when he relinquished his Senior Minister position, a Minister Mentor position is created..... wtf rite?....
drug trafficking is a SERIOUS offence here, punishable by DEATH if the amount exceeds a certain amount like what Xanthos mentioned....
possession of a firearm is also punishable by DEATH.... no guns and such allowed unless its the military or the police...
but even though the law is quite unbelievably strict here, tourists thinking of coming shouldn't worry at all...cos unless you're thinking of committing anything serious, which i doubt any of you guys will, some laws area relatively slack for foreigners.... for e.g. the no smoking and littering law in certain areas, enforcement officers WILL usually turn a blind eye against tourists... believe me.. i know....
and singapore is an extremely safe place to visit, you can walk around in the middle of the night and not worry about getting robbed or raped of anything...
btw Dr. Jim when you're coming to singapore izzit alrite to meet up over some coffee when you're free?... am quite interested to listen to your stories regarding the research you're conducting, and maybe impart some of your e-smoking experience to us hehe.......bring some juice too haha
and Xanthos and Fish..... when you guys get your e-cig wanna meet up and share your experiences?? just coffee and chit chat lah...
Will do if I pop by Singapore...I will pm you before I drop over...
