Does anyone have any experience with e-smoking in Thailand and/or the flight to and from there?

When I first started this lark I never gave it a second thought but on reading about the situation on Singapore and also reflecting on the harshness of some of the drug laws in the Far East, I'm starting to worry about taking them with me at all. If I don't then I have a bit of a problem since I really don't want to go back to analogs. Worst case I could take the Nicorette inhaler I suppose but it's pretty yuk and pathetic IMHO.

Advice appreciated...

I asked some members of a Thai forum in a thread I had started what the status was on electronic cigarettes and they said they were not banned but were worried for their survival. you can check out that thread here:
hi guys, anyone speak english here ?

The forum is still active so I presume they are still available. It's all in thai so it's hard to make out what they're saying. I'll start a new thread there and ask them what the best course of action a tourist could take to take to enjoy a vaping good time.

edit: I started a thread here:
Travelling to thailand with e-cigarette..need advice

It isn't a very busy forum but you should get a response within 1-2 days.

Thanks so much for doing that - a Thai e-cig forum, who'd have guessed (not me that's for sure) - I can see a reply, seems like it's okay at the moment. I think I'll just take the one (in case it gets confiscated) and just enough juice for the time I'll be there. Ordinarily I'd take everything which at this rate will be about a suitcase-full (note to self: stop buying stuff)

I sent the link to my wife, who speaks Thai
I'll have her look into it

I have braved the flight to Thailand 3x
Before my strategy was to get drunk and sleep as much as possable
very bad exp.

I was looking forward to go armed with an ecig for my next time, but I heard it was already banned over there

I'll keep this post updated

Thanks for forwarding the link to your wife, hope to hear good news...

I'm normally not too bad on long haul flights, I just go into "can't smoke mode" and switch off (wish I could do that in real life).

I start to get twitchy the nearer it gets to landing time which, now-a-days is just so painful since you can't normally smoke until past immigration, past the baggage, past customs, past the exit and then 50 meters away from the front door. Pure torture. I'm sure that airport policy makers are secretly sadists. If I do try to take an e-cig with me, at least I can quietly have a puff in the toilets either on the flight or after landing.

I'm not going for a couple of months but I'm already starting to worry about it!

I don't know about the new airport, but the old airport had a smoking station as soon as you got off the plane

The first year I had a 26hr flight with a lay over in Japan, that was murder

but the flight from london wasn't that bad, the only thing is the plane will be crowded because they also put people going to new zealand on that flight

I had another bad experience going home one time, there was a whole group of yuppies that went to asia to adopt kids, oh the horror
A bunch of rich dumb white people with their new infants, some of them had picked up two kids, I came very close to kicking people in the head
I'm sure you can imagine, being stuck in a crowded place, 50 baby's screaming, inefectual parents without skills, 18 hrs non stop with no place to hide

Hi,
i live in south east asia.i have been able to buy egigs and juice(china made..) in hat yai,a city in the south of thailand. So far i met only another guy vaping.
I have yet to try to find any sellers in bangkok(i try to avoid going to the city center),so I am back to rolling tobacco.I"ll follow this thread,my suggestion id that maybe vapers in this area should stay in touch and help each other.i would really like to find a way to ge safe e juce.An idea may be to keep in touch by email to reduce any risk.
Whatever,good luck to all.
Leo
Ps just spent some time in malesys; over there you can find sellers in some malls. But nobody is selling e juce;it seems that they are scared of it being considered a drug.which is a good point, but then they sell the crtridge with the nicotine in them...Personally,I am not sure how all this thing is going to end.

Hi Leo, for your information. There are many e-cig sellers in Bangkok.
I have listed some e-cig sellers, here their web site:

burnoutcig.com
Duracig.com

You can either call them or post your order in their web board.
They are good sellers and take good responsible for their products.

Once your place an order and paid, they will ship your order to mail
and you will receive it in couple of days.

I've been to LOS (Land of Smiles) twice since I started vaping, and didn't have any issues at all either time. The second time was just a couple of months after they banned smoking in bars, and even in bars which actually observed the smoking ban (which was a minority of them, BTW) I just showed them the e-cig and how it worked, and I was left alone after that.

I will be going back there again over christmas weekend, so if anyone else is in Pattaya over the weekend, drop me a PM and we can get together and vape!

I've been using an e-cig for the past several months in Thailand with no problem. I use it everywhere; bars, restaurants and internet cafes, all without complaint from anyone. So, while it may not be legal to sell them, there is certainly no pressure on the users. Occasionally someone will ask about the device out of interest but that's it. By the way, David Yang says it's no problem for him to ship to Thailand.

I brought more than twenty 30 ml bottles in a checked bag...also no problem.
