5 Glycerin 56-81-5
6 Sodium alginate 9005-38-3
8 Aspartate 56-84-8
9 Enzyme 8049-47-6
10 Xanthan gum 11138-66-26

I checked groceries (whatever I have) and found all these ingredients listed on packages (bread, syrup, microwave fast food, spices etc). So I assume they are safe:blink::laugh:
I found a such ingredient like "sodium aluminum phosphate" in WalMart bread (safe too?:laugh::laugh:).
So this gel have passed American food safety standards inspection (again I can only assume).

How's Classwife doing?

Just thought I'd post an excerpt from that Wikipedia page that someone posted.

Worker safety

The United States National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health has suggested that diacetyl, when used in artificial butter flavoring (as used in many consumer foods), may be hazardous when heated and inhaled over a long period.

Workers in several factories that manufacture artificial butter flavoring have been diagnosed with bronchiolitis obliterans, a rare and serious disease of the lungs. The cases found have been mainly in young, healthy, non-smoking males. There are no known cures for bronchiolitis obliterans except for lung transplantation.

While several authorities have called the disease "Popcorn Worker's Lung," a more accurate term suggested by other doctors may be more appropriate, since the disease can occur in any industry working with diacetyl: diacetyl-induced bronchiolitis obliterans.

I guess that some things Are better when eaten and not when inhaled. Don’t think I want to get “Popcorn Lung” from my favorite e-juice.

Hiya zoiD !

I figured you'd be posting shortcuts to the diacetyl threads.....

I’m I that transparent? Oh wait, I live in a clear jar.

There's just something cool about the phrase "Popcorn Lung".

"Man you cough a lot..."

"Yeah, I got Popcorn Lung from my e-Juice."

Great conversation starter. I quit analogs to get away from all the chemicals. Now someone is putting them in e-Juice gel.

Go figure.

Unfortunately, it's not ok, and was a matter of great debate here, not long ago. The juice makers have since stopped using it (to the best of our knowledge) and the drop makers have even posted warnings on their websites. In fact, they are now warning against some drops that contain different ingredients, when put together (as in custards and many others) will create a "diacetyl" type combination.

NEW UPDATE 12/1/10 ..........

I have been doing more research, and i discovered that the molecule Acetoin can under certain circumstances "catalyze" into containing minute traces of the molecule Diacetyl. When I spoke to a chemist about this, she confirmed that this can happen during the production of the molecule, but is unlikely to happen after a flavor is blended. I then had a sample of Acetoin purchased from Vigon International analyzed by GC/MS and yes, it did have trace amounts of Diacetyl! When I looked at the online specification sheet that Vigon posts, it does show that the purity of that particular product is 93-100%. Nearly every molecule that is commercially sold is somewhere in this range for purity, and this seems to be an acceptable industry standard. (Vigon is a very reputable company!) Of course, Diacetyl is a perfectly acceptable Food Flavoring, so for the Flavor and Fragrance Industry there is absolutely no problem with this particular trace occurence in the production of Acetoin. It is completely normal. But for customers wanting to avoid even trace amounts of Diacetyl, this means that any flavor that contains the ingredient Acetoin can potentially also contain trace amounts of Diacetyl, even though Diacetyl itself was never added to the blend as an ingredient.

Because of this new information, I will add to the flavor descriptions of those flavors that I know contain Acetoin, so that customers can avoid those flavors if they wish. Of course, if only a small amount of acetoin is in a flavor, then the potential likelihood of there also being diacetyl is very very small.

So please use care when mixing with these ingredients! They are not recommended. I cannot stop you, obviously, but we would like to point you in a safer direction. We are only just beginning to discover this new 'world'

(Making my own...and a few that I buy from one vendor)

Any hoo....this gel seems to have fallen by the wayside.....I don't know of anyone selling it....do you ?

Aside from a small fringe group of vapers who don’t vape it but put it in their hair, No, no one thinks it works very well.

That and it is chocked full of chemicals.

Great to catch you zoiD !!! (hug)

I hope they do too. But I have a feeling they won't be passing out many "likes". Never know though.

Good to see you also CW. Seems like we have been running in different threads these days.

Maybe those 'odd ingredients' will "dissolve" as to make the gel into a liquid state and they wont be vaped 'per se'...
Remember - "dissolving" doesn't mean "disappearing". If you dissolve salt in water, it still is there.

Some general remarks about e-gel.
Here in Poland a few users tried it (despite of my warnings). The general opinion is, I'd say, shakesperean - much ado about nothing.
Not easy to apply, taste is rather "flat", throat hit not very special, either.

Im working on a few thing related to e solid still, Yes I hated it, it was hard to work with, it tasted like crap, but damned if it didnt produce strong vapor for hours off of a m&m size fill. I think this is going to take a new style of atomizer, and some tweaking by the manufacturer on the chemicals used before many other brave souls will touch it
