I got an ear infection day after I started vaping. Went to Dr and had an ear infection, put on antibiotics for 10 days. 10Th day was yesterday & ear is still touchy but a lot better, but still blocked a bit... Not sure if it's due to vaping, but will wait till the end of week to see if it clears up. If not, will go back to Doc and see what she says..
Could it be coincidence or is it PG allergy?

Hey guys,
Just checked this thread. I am not a doctor. But I have been vaping for seven months. I have been a member of this forum for a while now. I can tell you.... an ear infection is not due to vaping. I assure you.
A common problem among new vapers (myself included many months ago) is that this is new to you. Being that it is new to you, you dont know what "could" happen. Most of the vapers here will tell you that these kinds of reactions are common, yet only coincidental.
There are entire threads on here devoted to this subject. And ear infections arent even the beginning of it. People get concerned when they start vaping and all of the sudden they get one to many hang nails their first week! LOL!
You have to remember, we are putting into our systems things that are ok for human consumption, and its going to our lungs... not our ears. I would definatly advise anyone who is seriously concerned to check with their doc about any new symptom of course. But really, rest assured, an ear infection is just that.
Allergic reactions to PG are going to manifest themselves in other ways. Not by giving you infections though.
I applaud anyone who asks questions however. So please dont be afraid to ask! But Im telling.... sit back, relax, take a nice looooong toke from your e-cig..... inhale.... exhale.....and know your doing your body good.:D

My best,
-VP

just finished the tenth day of antibotics for an inner ear infection...it is not outer ear infection or swimmer's ear....very painful and am still getting pus draining from the ear.... i have never had one before....apparently the infection is somehow sent through the sinuses where it is trapped behind the ear. I could not hear a thing and was very dizzy and had a high fever...

just saying.....

Vapor Pete has apparently not had any sinus/ear infections since he started vaping, That does not make him or anyone else the resident expert on anything. I have had sinus/ear issues only since I started vaping. Safe for ingestion does not mean safe for inhalation. Don't take anyone's word for anything here. We just don't know. You are just another lab rat and there is no lab.

Hey there 42109,
I sense a bit of negativity in your post. Im not sure if you read my whole reply as I specifically state I am not a doctor. I am not claiming to be "the resident expert" either. The spirit of my reply is saying that due to my having been around this forum for some time now, as have you, I've seen a plethora of "symptoms" being reported, and that most can attest to the theory that most of what people are complaining about when they start vaping is no more than coincidence, and part of the "I just started vaping...oh my god... I've never sneezed 5 times in a row.... is it vaping?"
You are correct that we dont know what vaping can/will cause. You are correct that we are all rats without a lab (which is a comment I like btw!). You are right that safe for ingestion doesnt equal safe for inhalation. But it should at least ease the nerves a bit to think about it like that. We arent inhaling or ingesting gasoline...that much we do know.
We also know that inhaling nicotine is ok. We know inhaling propelyn glycol is ok. And we know inhaling water vapor is ok.
As for taking anyones word here, well, I covered that as well. But experience, time, and the majority of e-cig users, can all help to ease that tention when one starts vaping and isnt sure what to expect.
I merly gave my own testamony, and what I've seen on the thread. I included my post below and bolded the importent parts where I claim no expertese. Hope that clears things up a bit.

I just started vaping last Friday, and have developed a "swimmer's ear" type of problem. My right ear feels clogged and achy, and when I talk I hear my own voice echo in my ear. I don't have health insurance until June 1, so I have to hope this will clear up on its own and not be due to the fact that I just started vaping instead of smoking. I have never had anything like this in my life, so it is a little bit odd that it just happened to start now a few days after I started vaping.

Of course, it also could be a result of the fact that I just quit smoking real cigarettes. I have heard that the body goes through some rough times when you quit smoking, even though I am replacing the nicotine, I'm not replacing all of the other chems I am used to having. I have been smoking for 15 years, so my body is definitely going though some changes, hopefully for the better.

I've only been vaping for about a month but I realized yesterday that I could breath through my nose, lol! I also realized that I had obviously been stuffed up for years and didn't really know it (I think it must have just been one side or way up in my sinuses) I already had realized that although I smoked I was allergic to the smoke that was coming off the ciggy or the second hand smoke, not sure which because it would make me sneeze like the dickens if I breathed it in through my nose. Anyway, my sinus headaches and stuffiness are gone so it is possible that you had the same (the stopped up sinuses) and they are clearing up now (that stuffs gotta go somewhere!)

Just wanted to chime in and say, that my first vapes were using pg and my tongue just turned a little red. I wasn't sure if it was the pg or the lack of tar that had been coating my tongue for the last 35 years. But I switched to vg and vwala! no more red tongue. I guess allergies can come in all forms. Make the switch and see what happens.

Nothing to do with vaping unless you are dripping the liquid in the wrong place... Quovadis, you're funny

mini_art is correct about the pollen and all the other stuff that is seriously high this year. I live on benadryl year round, but in the past 2 weeks of vapeing I haven't got a stuffy nose. Usually once I start sneezing, the stuffy nose follows along with plugged ears, and itchy eyes. True symptoms of allergies but so far (knock on wood) this year not nearly as bad.............is it because I'm not filling my body with tons of chemicals??

i havent had a ear ache or infection, but what i have noticed is when i got off analogs my ears cleared up and it seemed as my hearing improved. quite impressive. also nose n throat cleared to.
after a 1.5 months, had a bad experience bought a pack of smokes in the a.m. smoked analogs all day. felt like i was coming down with a cold by night fall. sucked! ears n nose stuffy. woke up feeling like a bag of poop! realized it was from them damned analogs!!!
conducted my own test and did this same process a month later, same effect!! felt like poop! sooo for ME in my own little study, cloggy ears n such is caused by analogs! NOT vaping. vaping rather than smokin gave my body a chance to clear me up!!
vape all day wake up fine, smoke analogs all day wake up feeling like a bag of poop!! try it for yourself, im sure you will be amazed. :)
