I just quit smoking 2 days ago and started vaping right away, so I'm not sure if I'm suffering from smoking withdrawals. But each time I have a single vape, my left ear starts ringing very high pitched sound and my head feels so heavy I feel I could fall over. I smoked 10 cigs a day for about a year (0.8 mg Marb Reds), and now I'm making sure I smoke the same amount with my vapor and overall it's a lot better except for these weird symptoms. I get a feeling of pressure like a migraine but without the pain in the back of my head, and throughout the day it spreads to the front. This never happened with cigarettes, even one after the other (which was rare) but with the vaping I take 1 puff and get these symptoms. I'm vaping 18mg, 10 vaping sessions a day of 8 puffs like the Marbs.

Any ideas of what could be wrong? Or does vaping just deliver nicotine differently and my dosage is way too high?

I would try maybe 60VG/40PG or 70/30 as they're still pretty tank friendly. See if the lower nic helps first before you start changing something else. That way you can nail down exactly what it is. It'll save you some money in the end.

Yes, just like software... change only one thing at a time, or you won't know which thing "fixed" it. :D

Tinnitus is also associated with sensitivity to PG, I'm pretty sure. Some people are a lot more sensitive to it than others.

Thanks AndriaD for posting this. Not to jack this thread, but I have had Tinnitus since I started vaping three years ago. I have pretty much learned to ignore it. I have tried lowering my nic. level to no avail. Will now see about lower or no pg mixes.

I do have mild T (even before vaping).

What is your vaping style ?

Are you a mouth to lung vaper or
Direct to lung inhaler ?

I do sometimes have ears popping and a little pressure building
with direct to lung hits which eventually clear easily
(though the T is still lurking around a little).

I vape 6 mg on 80 / 20 VG/PG

I lowered my nic to 12mg, same thing happens right away. What is the best place to buy some good VG only juice in EU? Specifically Ireland

Most e-juice vendors offer 100% e-juices here--and in the UK. I don't shop overseas, but try Decadent Vapours, Totally Wicked or Liberty Flights--just for starters.

You can also buy some plain VG (glycerin) in a drugstore and add it to your eliquids. Make sure you get British Pharmacopoeia (BP) grade glycerin. Store bought glycerin will have to be thinned out a bit to a vaping consistency with a little distilled water (10-17% or so).

I never had T before I started vaping. It came on very suddenly when I first started. I was using a carto tank (remember those?) and an ego twist with 18 mg. Halo Tribecca. At that time I was a mouth to lung inhaler, just like I smoked cigs. I would vape the hell out of that thing, being new and trying to get off cigarettes. I remember distinctly the day it happened. I took a good hit and got this ringing in my ears and said to myselfe, "wow that's a good one". The ringing never quite went away.
I am now using DIY juice and using a box mod and drippers and aspire tanks and am now mostly a direct lung inhaler. I have cut my nic. to 3 mg. but the ringing is still there pretty much all the time.
I attribute it mostly to my age (58 yrs old) and ,like I said I have learned to ignore it because otherwise it's all good.
II have taken AndriaD's advise and just made a batch of 70vg 30 pg and will see if there's a difference.

I'm vaping 18mg,

Well your nic is the problem!

0.8 x 10 = 8

That would be about the right mg for you (8mg). 12mg at the most!!!

This is roughly how yoou figure it out.

I've over nicked a few newbies before I knew that, as well as taking advice here when I started and was sick for 2 weeks since nobody ever asked me back in 2012 how many cigs and what kind I smoked when I started vaping and was told to start at 18mg. Man, I was so sick for 2 weeks.

Depending on what equip you are using, if highh powered I would use 6mg, if evod / ego type I think you could do 12mg.

Actually I probably would never advise someone to use more VG, just because VG gives me so many problems with my breathing -- but I know that some people are extremely sensitive to PG, as I am to VG, and I've heard that one of the possible side effects of PG is tinnitus. The only thing that ever made my ears ring was an accidental overdose of Bufferin (aspirin).

i ordered a VG only liquid and am waiting for it to arrive. i've been vaping my 70% PG liquid often because i want to curb my smoke cravings, and the sound keeps getting louder and more unbearable. it's only this past week in my life i started vaping that i've had such loud and constant tinnitus, and considering i'm vaping the average mg that people use and still not all that frequently, there must be some big PG sensitivity going on. fingers crossed the VG liquid works

Why not kill 2 birds in one stone? I am convinced it is the nic. Go to walmart, buy some USP VG, cut your ejuice down by 1/2 with that (you will have less flavor but still more than vaping flavorless, and vg has a nice taste).

See if your problem subsides. You will be vaping 9mg nic if you cut by 1/2 and also be upping your VG.

Worth a shot, why wait

You could be vaping comfortably right now. Walmart is open all night. :)

No Walmart 'round here. I'll probably have the 100% VG juice tomorrow and then see what happens. I'd be real sad if it's the nic because 18mg is the only one that really gives any kind of buzz like a regular cig. I've been sticking with 12mg, though. Thanks everybody who has contributed to this thread. Vaping is a wonderful alternative to cigs and I'm not going to give up on it.

Maybe the 100% VG will do the trick for you; some folks really are wicked sensitive to either PG or VG. Fortunately, I haven't run into anyone who seems to be wicked sensitive to *both*... Thank god!!! If I couldn't vape high-PG, I couldn't vape at all, because VG just suffocates me.

Because the OP will never know what caused her problems in the first place. I always recommend eliminating one thing at a time when diagnosing a problem.

Yes, just like software debugging. If you change more than one thing at a time, you have no idea which one fixed the problem; or, if a new problem develops, which one caused it.
