Still waiting for my batteries to ship [guy is on vacation]. So this is the 3 mod I thought of this weekend.
It's:
* 4xAA in series for 6v
* spiral notebook wire for connection
* 510 connector [any connector will work] as well as atty/carto
* rubber eraser to keep the positive pin in the center
* tape....lots of tape

This thing has a good th and vapor production that is vast and warm. I choke on the fried apple [too high nic for me and probably the cinamon] more than the 510. This is probably the simplest and smallest way to try out 6v vaping. You could also hit up a store and make one on the road if you're outa power. The way I have it taped up makes it fairly stable, but it won't last forever which is good if you want the batteries elsewhere and bad for longevity and abuse.
Keep in mind there is no moment switch on this mod. It's easy to accidentally screw up and go
