From 30th June 2009, electronic cigarettes or e-cigarettes will be banned from sale on eBay.co.uk and eBay.ie. This ban will enable ebay.co.uk and ebay.ie to have consistent policies with other eBay sites throughout Europe. The ban also includes any listing of component parts (including but not limited to): cartridges, atomisers, liquid refills, vaporisers, batteries and shells. Full details of this policy will be available on 30th June.

Policy changes to selling e-cigarettes and manufacturer coupons eBay.co.uk and eBay.ie

I have added my comments to this ebay thread, here is a copy of what I wrote:-

Yes I do understand why ebayUK need to be consistent with its policies, so I am not complaining about that, Im more annoyed at the ignorance of some of the posters here, who know nothing about the product and how it works.

Like most new ideas and the products that come along with them, testing needs to be done, but it takes time, and in an ideal world these products would not be available till that testing was done, but that hasnt been the case.

The products have been extensively available for some time in the UK and in turn have helped many people including myself give up the dreaded weed, in my case after 43 years of smoking.

We have seen Trading Standards ask for independant tests to be carried out on the juices and most of the suppliers have adhered with that and had tests done. TS then asked for proper child proof caps and suitable labeling, that to has been done, so we are now left with the long term effect tests of the juices. Those will take years, should anyone ever start them, but I for one would volunteer as a test subject, as I am sure other e-cig users would do.

The e-cigs themselves now need legislative tests, we realise that and welcome it, as we want to remain safe. But please lets not make those of us who are now well on our way to cutting down on our nicotine intake so eventually we will not need the support e-cigs have given us, suffer by withdrawing our supplies.

And to the person who asked have we tried patches etc., yes we have and they didnt do the job....

NY Jets, the eBay id dothedealnow is very annoying indeed.:-x

Caesarea, quite a few of the members of my eBay e-cig group are already members of ECF :) I'm hoping as James the Pink has now posted on the thread on Q&A saying he is OK about the debate, he will also be OK about my group. He does know about my group as he has posted before on threads on Q&A re the e-cig.

Stuff like this just gets me so aggravated with the Internet in general. You can just say whatever stupid comment you like with no proof or backing and there are no repercussions. The part that is most annoying is that person's false comment can still influence other people who just glance at it and keep moving along. 50 people can read that guy's comments and one will be the person you run into who says "I heard those are so bad for you."

When will there be a live debate over e-cigs and not just the mindless back and forth banter! We are trying to hard to raise awareness and I feel like we are in all the wrong arenas.

But no I don't have any better ideas, I'm just ranting...when I think of something I'll let you know:-x

Thanks Caesarea :D. Not so much hopping mad, just a bit worried & sad that ebay may close the group down :(. I know that the group is only very small fry compared to this fantastic forum but I do think it has helped introduce people to e-cigs :)

I couldn't agree more that eBays decision is rotten news for all of us vapers :(

Important Changes to the eBay User Agreement

We announced on 16th April 2009 that the dispute resolution process on eBay would be made faster and easier for buyers and sellers. Read the announcement here.

Buyers will be able to resolve their problems on eBay through eBay Buyer Protection. We intend to make this process available to more and more buyers throughout 2009; although initially only a limited number of buyers will be able to use this process while we make sure it's working for everyone.

To reflect this change, the eBay.co.uk User Agreement will be updated.

eBay Buyer Protection

There may be instances where a seller doesn't resolve a claim and we find in favour of the buyer, in which case, under eBay Buyer Protection, eBay will pay the buyer and invoice the seller for the amount paid to the buyer by eBay. Where a seller fails to comply with the eBay Buyer Protection policy, eBay may also remove any special status associated with the seller's account (e.g. PowerSeller status), reduce or eliminate any discounts received by the seller, decrease visibility of the seller's listings in search results, place certain requirements regarding payment options offered by the seller and potential holds on payments made through PayPal and/or restrict or suspend the seller's account.

Changes to the eBay.co.uk User Agreement

As with earlier updates to the User Agreement, we've made other minor changes to reflect eBay's current product and service offerings and industry legal standards. You'll see references to, 'eBay site, services and tools' where the old agreement simply reads, 'eBay site.' These changes reflect the many new ways you can access eBay's offerings through other websites, wireless devices, and tools.

The new User Agreement is effective immediately for new members registering on or after 27th May, and from 8th July 2009, for current members. You don't need to do anything to accept the new User Agreement, but if you don't wish to accept, please, follow these instructions to close your account.

Yours sincerely

The eBay Team
