My story is strange, different, in some ways bizarre. I'm not sure what to do next, so I thought I'd ask.

I was a pack a day smoker for ten years. I smoked "heavy" cigarettes. I rolled my own tobacco (no filters), or smoked camels. I decided to quit, and through concentration and will power quit for ten years. I then fell back into smoking and have been a pack a day smoker for ten years since. Like before, I smoke "heavy" cigarettes. Rothmans, Gitanes, Dunhill’s, 555’s. I knew "I should quit smoking" again, and decided I will "when I decide to", but never did. I haven't decided to quit smoking now, but through no will of my own I think I have. I have ECF to thank for that.

I'd heard of e-cigs over the past couple of years. I tried greensmoke and the like. They all tasted horrible. I didn't think much about them. Then, a little over two week ago, I was bored and decided to search around the internet about e-cig's, and found ECF. I got interested in "vaping" as a hobby. I read alot of posts, and decided to give e-cigs another try. I bought an ego-t tank system (style B), and ordered 24 and 32 mg "555" juice from goodejuice. I had no intention of quitting analogs. I just figured I'd get to play with some new toys.

When I got my new toys I charged up the battery, filled the tank, and vaped. Wow. It tasted good. Really good. I continued to vape for the rest of the day. Towards the end of the day I pulled out my analog and smoked it. It didn't taste too good. It had less throat and was harsher than the vape. Hmm. Well, I thought, whatever.

The next day I took my Joye to work, together with an analog pack. I (almost) exclusively vaped during my cigarette breaks. I had one analog, and it was even less satisfying then the previous day. I vaped exlusively for the next few days. I finally decided to try an analog again, and it was HORRIBLE. It tasted bad. Really bad. I threw it out after two puffs. I continued to vape. A couple of days ago I tried an analog again. It tasted worse than before. The best description I could give is that it tasted like an ashtray. I threw it out after one puff. I tried an analog today. It was even worse than the last. The first puff felt like I swallowed an ashtray. I threw it out. I think it may be my last.

Over these last two weeks, friends have commented on how "my skin has cleared up", how "I look younger", "my breath is fresher", "my teeth are whiter", and "I don't reek of cigarette smoke". When I mention my e-cig, they all congratulate me. "Hey good for you, you decided to quit smoking". No, I didn't. I didn't do anything. I just don't want to smoke analogs anymore.

Through no effort of my own, I don't see myself ever smoking again. I'm going to live longer, be healthier, and feel less self-conscious. In the past, I used nicotine patches for a few days at a stretch when I had to be "smoke free". The patches stopped the nicotine withdrawal symptoms, but of course never changed my desire to smoke. vaping has.

What do I do now?

congrats and welcome aboard.

Now try to experiment and try some different juice flavors. When I started vaping I just wanted the tobacco flavors. Funny thing is now I find myself not liking the tobacco flavors as much as the other stuff out there. When I first saw some of the wild flavors out there I thought it was actually pretty gross sounding and a bit feminine. Check out a few vendors, grab some tobacco flavor and others in a sample pack. Some might be gross but some are pretty damned good.

Keep on vaping. Try more juices till you have a group of faves. Try cartomizers if you haven't. Buy SPARES for every part of your ecig including the charger.

The some people just stay on the same nicotine level. Some decide to crank up their experience with the biggest hottest or highest nic type setup. Some work their nicotine down to lower levels (though you lose throat hit with every step lower) and some of these people make it down to 0mg and a few quit completely since once you get yoru nic down real low the urge is not so desperate. It depends what you want to do with it.

Lots of people try different models, different cartos, carto tanks, variable voltage, etc.

Now you start living! Start laughing without coughing your head off...start enjoying the taste of your food...start feeling stronger...start thinking about the fact that your lungs are repairing themselves. Most of all start giving yourself credit because you did quit! It doesn't matter how it happened, the fact is - it happened! Well done! And welcome - you'll find a wonderful group of non-judgemental, friendly and helpful people here!! :)

That is so wonderful, I am so happy for you as I am for all of us here and for me, yay me!!! This has been a miracle in my life, everyone has a different reason for being here and motivation is fueled by our own personal engine, but the end result is the same, we are all joined by this wonderful reality, we don't smoke anymore!

Most of the advice you'll be given here will get you hooked on vaping (which is a lot better than being hooked on analogues). The other option is to not empty your wallet on mods, tanks and 'must have' juices, but to continue using your current gear, slowly try and drop your nic level until you can give up vaping too. You may need to upgrade your gear to keep the analogue cravings at bay, but then again, you may be able to use your current gear to get you nic free (if that's your goal).

You'll get great advice here, and it will all be based around making your vaping experience as perfect as it can be. There's nothing wrong with that, much better being hooked on vaping than hooked on cigarettes. Just by chance you are aiming to be nicotine free in the future, don't buy into all the 'you must have this mod' mumbo jumbo.
