Wife and I are both 65. Lifetime smokers. Tried quitting multiple times. Met a vaping couple at a local Fest. They took the time to explain the basics to us. They said the most important key to newbies is finding the right vape shop. They were spot on. We've only been vaping a short while. Within 2 days went from pack a day each to 1/2. Now down to a few a day. I expect soon no more analogs.

Hey welcome to the forum. Always a joy to see my fellow seniors land in here. This can also be a great place to learn how to vape for pennies a day if you have an interest in making your own juice, rebuilding coils and such. Find rock bottom prices at online clearance sales and such. Even tons of new gear just for entering contests and giveaways if that interests you? Seriously, I've never won anything in my life but since joining here I've gotten a pile of free stuff.

So redeuce what kinda vape gear ya workin with today? What part of the globe do ya hail from? I'm in the Dallas, Texas,USA area on the rare occasion that I'm home. What vape interests or questions brought ya to us?

Welcome to ECF and good luck on your journey to quit analogues. I couldn't have done it without the right setup, for sure. I'm glad a friend took the time to get you started down the vaping road. Heh. I said I'd save money too, 4th of July put me on a tight budget, but the good news is I am headed down the road to vaping self-sufficiency, and there will be no more vape store juice purchases, I don't think, and once I start building.... well, I am looking forward to it.

But yes, this is a great place to learn as much (or more) than you want, speedily. Congrats to you and your wife! I'm so happy for you! :)

Thanks. We both started out with Eleaf I Care 160's. First vape store told me that was best product for starter. I also noticed he had nothing but ELeaf starter kits. Bad move. That little IC coil spits too much. Went to next vape store. He recommended the Aspire Breeze. We now both are using them. Remember, we are both 65. We don't want to be in public cloud chasing at our age. Right now perfect for us. Batteries only lasts about 7 hours. I got a charging dock that we charge and take with us. Problem solved. Our son is also trying to quit. We let him use a 160 for half a day. Said he wanted to try. So we got him Joyetech EGO AIO and he seems to like it. My wife and I may upgrade in the future, but for now, it's very stealth and gives a decent vape. Liquids so far are all 70% vg. I've got a mixture of Riddler's Tuco Blue with Skittles, 6mg. My wife still wants tobacco taste. I mix her a combo of half sweet Carolina and half Blue with Skittles. 4.5 mg is satisfying her. We're in North suburbs of Chicago.

Excellent ..... Sounds like you are dialing into a vape that can replace the tobacco products .... For most people, especially if they have smoked a long time, it's far easier to get away from tobacco by the use of vaping than it is without it..... A good vape is just as satisfying as a cigarette... it's just a matter of experimenting around with a few setups as well as various juices and nicotine levels.....

Foggy. I'm a tinkerer by nature. Classic cars. The idea of mixing my own is already getting my attention. My wife is worried that you can't trust online purchases of liquid. I told her there are several reputable companies out there.
Yeah, I spend too much time tinkerin with these things. Stick with the smallest stealthy stuff I could find. Really flipped for those iCares when they first came out, what a mess they were. Finally gave up on 'em.

Foggy- Don't know if it's' a bs story, but guy at vape shop said I Care developed the aio's to compete with Juul. He said he started on Juul but was spending $15 a day on pods! So I care makes there's with little coils that are cheap. Then Aspire figures out if you put a decent coil on a mini, they have a winner.

I loved the I Care battery life, liquid capacity, and the vape was decent. But the 160 was too long to put anywhere easily, and the spitting was a turn off. I started with a straight tobacco flavor that was 50/50. It spit to the point I always had a little juice in my mouth. The 70 VG calmed it down a bit. Still no comparison to the Aspire. I wish they would have made it a little bigger so they could get a little more battery and liquid in it. The charging pod makes it work for us. But I don't know how a guy that worked all day, especially in the trades, would find time to refill and recharge it during the day. If someone would make a Breeze clone, about an inch longer, with at least 1000 mah and 3 ml capacity, I'm on it!

Welcome, redeuce! Congrats to you and your wife for cutting down on the smokes and being well on your way to quitting!

There are many of us "seniors" on the ECF. So you're definitely not alone here at all. Most smoked for 30-40+ years and are now happliy vaping along and perfectly satisfied with it. There are even some threads where many of us sort of hang out on here.

Well I've written off the super tiny stuff as just impracticle for me. I'm a truck driver and vape constantly all day long. I've settled on this as my all day vape setup. Have 3 of the mods and refill 5 tanks every other morning. Fits comfortably in my shirt pocket and the backup mods and tanks are always within reach.

    2017-07-11_19.45.58.jpg

The mod is an Eleaf iStick Pico V1 75 watt (running@ 15w). Holds a 3000mah replaceable battery. The tank is sorta my own hybrid creation. Aftermarket Bellcap tank for a Kangertech Subtank Mini mounted on a Joyetech eGo ONE Mega V1 base with CLR rewickable, rebuildable coil. Holds 4ml of juice. Taken me most of 2 years to find perfection but this is it for me.
