I stopped smoking the pyros quite some time ago, but more or less i figure that i spend a lot of money in eCig stuffs, my GF even thinks sometime i ll try to open a shop.

i gotta admit i love the gadgets trying this, trying that tank, but mostly i vape with the same silly old devices. Was just wondering cause i cant be the only one falling into the eCig buying addition.

On some other eCig forum (TE) where i am member since day one of my vaping career, i have this signature which basially tell me how much money i saved with not smoking the pyros ... its up to date pretty much 1000 USD. But then looking over how much i spend in Attys, Mech Mods, APV, batteries and Stuff, i have to admit that i spent way more into that.

you are suffering from "GAS" ( gear aquisition syndrome) or other wise known as "Shineyitus". You will start saving money when you make the decision to settle down with 1 or 2 setups and stop buying things other than juice... but some people cant stop.. some one posted a picture of his collection, well over 500 mods and tanks...

It is getting addictive for me, but I was spending about £220 per month (some £2,640/year) on ciggies, tobacco for roll-ups, plus papers, lighters etc.
I gave up the day I bought my first e-cig kit on 23rd December after smoking since about 1955.
So my spending was getting ridiculous on tobacco products, so switching to 'vaping' I gave myself a weekly pay rise of about £50 or so. Over the past 5 months I guess I have spent about £150 on juices and advanced kit etc. (about £30/month average) so it is a huge saving.

At least with what I have bought with my 'no smoking money' is going to last me quite some time, whereas the same money spent on cig's/roll-ups all I would have to show for it is a dustbin full of ....-ends. :D

I cannot see me giving up vaping for quite some time, as with all the new and shiny kit to be had, it is now my hobby. It used to be buying computer parts, and my overdraft is rather pleased with me switching to my new hobby. :D

Everyone needs a hobby. If you're paying your bills and functioning and have some extra cash, IMO there's no harm in having some toys. Plus you'll have back ups if you need them AND you're likely to have a friend/family that smokes and one day you'll notice a working setup you have no use for and help them get started. Plus even with 500 mods it's still cheaper than cancer ;)

Hello...I am Robin...and I definitely suffer from GAS only after about 2 months! LOL I have already started rebuilding kanger coils and have a single coil dripper, 3 MPT2's, an Aerotank, 2 standard ego 650mah batteries, 2 push-button vv 650mah batteries, an itaste vv v3.0, and a plethora of juices! In 2 months I have already spent in excess of $800, but I know it will settle down once I get the setup I prefer and a few juices I can vape all day. It's cost me way more than the stinkies so far, but at least I have something to show for it. Next step is an RBA tank and a vv/vw tubular mod (like an SVD, Vamo or something of the sort), and more juices! :vapor::D Guess I found my hobby!

Same here. When you're tracking your "saved" money, it makes it a whole lot easier to justify purchases that you may not have made if you haven't been "saving so much money"

It definitely does become a hobby though.

I've NOT smoked somewhere in the ballpark of 50 packs of cigarettes since I started vaping full-time. That's about $250 for me. I've spent quite a bit more (especially the first month where I was still smoking and leaning toward vaping - juices and PVs and tanks, oh my!)

Haven't needed to buy juice in over 2 weeks; bought a few tanks (Aro Pyrex - to combat the tank-crackers) and some replacement coils (I'll probably pick up some cotton balls and some kanthal to try my hand at some basic rebuilding) I probably won't need to get any more juice for another couple weeks, so, my initial flurry of expenditures is starting to tone down quite nicely. I'm armed with 2 VV3s, 2 MVP2s, a Vision Spinner 1300, and a Volcano Inferno. I have about 6 EVODs, 4 Aros, the iClear 30 that came with both my MVPs and 4 remaining iClear 16 (that came with my first VV3) and a ton of replacement coils for all of the above.

My S.O. asked if I've been saving any money yet. Not that she cares, especially since I don't smell like an unwashed ashtray anymore.

I turn 50 later this year. I *MIGHT* gift myself one (or two?) of these awesome rebuildables that I keep seeing everyone brag about. That could make for an interesting 7-month vapaversary present..... We'll see.

Anyway, didn't mean to ramble, but oilreg, if you're dialing in on the equipment that you need to stay away from the smokes, then IMHO, they're perfectly justifiable purchases.

I've definitely bought a lot of stuff, since the end of January when I started vaping. But $176/mo worth? That would amount to almost $600 at this point, and I don't think I've spent anywhere near that much. Plus, my husband, who had to give up his coin-collecting hobby when the economy went down the toilet, has been able to start buying coins again, so, clearly, there's more money available now than there was when I was smoking. And these things are keeping me from smoking or even wanting to smoke, and that is just priceless; so whatever I need to spend to maintain my happiness as a vaper is entirely worth it.

Luckily most of us got into it to save our lives and not save money. I value my life a lot and don't really care what I spend as long as it doesn't cut into important stuff. For many, they'll end up with some good reliable setups and realize they don't need to keep going. Myself and those I know that vape don't buy much stuff anymore. Just add a piece here and there. It took me over 8 months to stop buying hardware "just because".

I got into DIY juice and that was another process. Initial investment was equal to hardware but now I have a 6+ year supply of Nic and everything I need to mix for many months. Good times.

ARGGG...you mean to tell me that if I want to get into DIY, I will have a large investment? Yikes...I was thinking about it, but now I think I might have to wait awhile.

No one spends on computer until and unless you are a gamer or an overclocker. But at around 75 years of age, I really doubt you will be either, :p. So what is it?

You don't have to make a large investment...but it's a whole new buying spree of stuff. My biggest investment was 4 liters of nic base. That was close to $500. A new DIY person would absolutely not need that much. I wanted a liberty and freedom insurance policy stored in my freezer. Feels pretty good.

The bare minimum requirements look something like this:

1. 120mls of nic base
2. 250mls of pg and vg
3. 1,3,5ml syringes
4. couple blunt tip needes
5. (10) 10ml vials of flavors
6. 10,15,30ml juice bottles

All in would be less than $200. But then problems set in....and 100 flavors later you realize you need more of everything...lol
