I remember reading somewhere that not a lot of the nic is absorbed by the lungs anyway (most of it through the lining of the throat and mouth, please correct me on this if I'm wrong).

Not fully inhaling would be a great risk reduction technique and if it reduces my nic absorbion by 10-40% I'll just get higher mg nic/ml.

Most of the nic you absorb is taken in through the mucous membranes in your mouth and sinuses. Not that much gets in through the lungs. The mist droplets in ecig vapor are too large to penetrate into the alveoli and are expelled when you exhale. Exhaling through the nose is said to create more absorption. You can also hold it in your mouth and french inhale through the nose for more absorption.

Nic is absorbed as the moisture in your mouth and sinuses combine with the droplets in the ecig mist. No, you don't have to inhale to get the nic in your system. Just holding it in your mouth before exhaling will do just fine for nic craving satisfaction. So will inhaling and then exhaling slowly though the nose.

DUH! is this like a typical beginner's mistake? I never saw this information anywhere...

I don't know. You've just got to figure out what's good for you. I find vapor drawn directly into my lungs harsh. If I do inhale, I let the vapor "rest" and cool in my mouth for a couple of seconds before I inhale.

I'm not a heavy throat hit person by any means. I tend to look for juices that correlate to an ultra light cigarette, which is what I smoked. My Red Marlboro days are long gone.

Some of the tobacco juices I like are Flue Cured, Virginia, and Camel from Awesome Vaper. They are smooth and tasty in spite of being 100% PG. Their Turkish Blend is also nice, but with a little more throat hit. I vape that on days when I need a more hearty vape. Juices like DK-TAB aren't for me ... they are great tasting, but make me cough.

I have found that vapeing irritates my lungs a bit when inhaling. It doesn't hurt but it's a strange sort of feeling like it was more difficult to breathe.

Cigarettes didn't do that to me, but I think my lungs may have been much less sensitive due to working at lower capacity and tar blocking the pores.

Due to this, and health concerns (just never loved the idea of flavorings in the lungs), I will train myself to inhale only until the vapor barely reaches my throat. You live and learn...

I read on this forum that you can hold it in your mouth and push it out through the nose with no lung inhale. The first time I tried it burned like a m@@@@@@@@er! It was like inhaling pepper in the nose. I've since gotten up the guts to try a few more times but with very small puffs and it's much nicer. It takes a bit of getting used to though.

You're probably better off opening your mouth and inhaling in your nose from your open mouth..also maybe you're sensitive to the juice your using or even PG/VG.
