Hi folks,

I recently purchases a Sigelei 100w box, and got the purple Efest batteries that the vendor recommended.
I'm using this with a KangerTech Subtank Mini.
It's currently set to 42W - 5.0V, and the resistance it shows me is 0.6 ohms.

I have some questions about my setup.

- I read some reports that these batteries have different specs than what is reported, and it could potentially be dangerous. What should I do to be safe? Is there a max W/V that I can set it to?
- I have a TrustFire TR-001 charger (output: 4.2V / 500Ma). Can I charge those batteries with that? I read the charger supports 18650 batteries, but I'd rather be sure...
- If the charger is no good, any recommendations of what I should be using?

Thanks a lot!

They may indicate a 35 or 38 amp MCCD performance (which is actually more likely a reference to time/pulse discharge... a value more useful for mech mod users)... but in reality they have a 30 amp MCCD.

Anything from China that has the words "trust" or "fire" in the name, means you shouldn't accept the former... and you may personally experience the latter.

Your battery is a re-wrapped/rebranded LG18650HE2 with a tested and verified 20 amp continuous discharge rate. The Sigelei at 42W is drawing 10 amps. at 100W 23 amps. The Sigelei uses two 18650 batteries in series giving you a pool of about 30 amps. So at 100W you still have 20% headroom which is fine. Bear in mind that this is all calculated at 0.6 ohms. You can use www.steam-engine.org/ to work out your limits.

Regarding the charger, the general rule of thumb is that if it has fire in the brand it isn't recommended. A lot of people myself included use Nitecore chargers.

You should be ok with them but just keep the real amps in mind if getting more adventurous, as for charger nitecore or xtar are decent chargers. Times certainly have changed once upon a time trustfire were recommended now days advice is to steer well clear and for good reason. If you want batterys with no exaggeration Sony vtc's if you can find authentic, Samsung 25's or the lg he2's all good quality reliable batterys.

I like my Xtar charger quite a bit. It lets you set what amps you charge at. I keep mine set at .25. You get a slower charge, but I notice the batteries have a longer lifespan. Also, the Nitecore charger I have only charges my batteries to 4.16, even though it reads 4.20. I can take them off the Nitecore when they are "done" charging and then put them on my Xtar and they read 4.16 every time....
