SO i received my nitecore i4 from amazon and it charged for about 5 min and then shut down and smelled like burned circuits. Tryed again, same result. Returning it today.

Anyone try
the http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...mini-lcd-screen-usb-smart-phone-charging.html
and the nitcore i4? Nitcore i4 plastic box is so cheap the seems "clicked" when i grabbed it. Using a TR-001 for now but need a "safer" charger with charge level indicator at a reasonable price I just bought the vamo,3 batteries,5 cartos,510 sealed ext. so I would like to ease the wallet pain a notch.

I know the Luc had a lot of issues and the coop I was in elsewhere, the order was cancelled due to them. They might be fine now or the stock out there might be the same as the stuff with thie issues.

Honestly, if you want the cheapest trustworthy (IMO) charger, grab an xtar Wp2. If you don't mind spending the money a Pila or xtar VP1 (has a read out as well) are great investments (45-50 dollars).

If you need the read out, a $50 dollar VP1 from a much more trusted brand of chargers id worth the extra $17. This is my go to charger and I had quite a few. The flashlight folks have also tested it and given it the seal of approval.

I believe Super T and RTD carry it. If they are out of stock, you can pm me and I will give you a link to a non-e cig site that does.

I have the LUC charger and it's cheaply made. The voltage readout isn't 100% accurate either. The negative post will bend if you don't move it just right. Fortunately, you can bend it back upright. I can check the voltage with my Provari and put the battery in the Xtar VP1 and it's spot on. The LUC numbers don't match the Provari, they're not off by much, but still not exact.

I'd pass on this one if I were you.

Looks cool but build quality is horrible, No different than a plastic gum package or a cheap race car. Its like made of recycled bags. I would have gladly paid +$20 for same charger just better housing maybe a built in fan to move the hot air like a small pc fan.

Interesting....
This is the first comment I've seen here like that. Some have said the sliders need a little lube.
Comments like that make the Xtar VP-1 look more appealing despite the $50 price tag.
I can definitely say my Xtar WP2-II has good build quality and it stops charging within .02V every time.

I have to agree on the Nitecore, I was taken aback some by it's cheap build quality as well. My TR-001 is built better but... it seems to work fine so far. The sliders get easier to slide w/ use, so I found no need to lube them.

I will get a Pila the next time I need a charger more than likely.

Interesting thread guys, thanks for all the info.

I just ordered a ProVari and got the Pila 4 stage because I have read it was one of the best and convenient to order along with the PV.
But the display on the Xtar VP1 looks like it beats a couple of LEDs. I like read outs!

From what I gathered these two seem to be pretty much up to par with each other. Would you say this is a true statement? I can live with LEDs.

I have the luc I got it from vapor beast Thursday. I noticed the just got it on their site. I must have gotten the revised version. The negative sliding posts have lube from the factory and I don't see how you could bend them. Overall it's real solid too.I just tried to bend it and it didn't click or anything. I don't regret buying it.

I would take 4 stage charging and rock solid performance/build quality (the PILA is/has been the darling of the high-amp LED flashlight world since it came out and they are even more picky than we are about equipment!) over an LED screen any time.
