Hi all
I had some issues previously with my Ego batteries not charging properly and got some good advice here. I have since then kept one battery hooked up to the charger while I use the other one. I have been noticing recently that my batteries are not holding a charge for any length of time. I have watched and it appears that they are lasting 2-3 hrs before needing a recharge.
So my question is are the batteries going bad or is my charger bad? I don't know what I need to replace. I got the 2 batteries with my Ego kit that I purchased when I started vaping. I talked to Vicki at Cignot about the previous issue and she said in her experience these batteries did not just start getting weak, they would just go out...............so that led me to believe it was the charger before.
However, would the charger show green if the battery was not holding a full charge? And if so, why are they only lasting this amt of time? I need some better minds than mine to ponder this. I had to make a long trip a few days ago and it was a nightmare to try to travel with these doing what they do. I was not prepared for that and my PT was not helpful as the cord was not long enough to use from the driver's seat when it was plugged in. So it only lasted a short amt of time.
My dad is still in ICU and things are not looking good for him long term so I don't really need to have to figure out any more mysteries right now so any help you can give me would be sincerely appreciated!
Thanks
Kim

Firstly, get an extension cable for your usb. Any should do.
Secondly, as an avid traveler I highly recommend an 18650 device. The smaller sets are decent enough for short outings or on the town, but when i need something to be reliable, i charge up the monster and bring a backup battery also charged. Between the two i have four days comfortable use, and could stretch to almost a full week if needed. If one dies half way through, im still not bad off.

As to the ego charge issue, it is possible they are bad batteries or bad charger. either one. As it is two batteries and only one charger, the probability is the charger is incorrectly reporting charge level and stopping early. it is less probable that the batteries both are reporting an incorrect charge back to the charger, or that both are capable of holding a lesser charge.

Third possibility is that you, like me, vape like a neurotic beast. If that is the case, 3 hours I would consider not abnormal. I have not used the ego but have heard to expect 4 times the battery of the 510, which last me only about 45 minutes on average.

3 solutions appear to me. Get another battery to see if the charger is bad, get another charger to see if the battery is bad, or get a multimeter to check voltage levels of everything and see which is bad. I do not know what to expect from the multimeter, but I am quite sure there is someone else on the board here with one who also has an ego and can let you know their results and how to do a test.

Given the issue and the current situation you are in, I would advise getting a usb extension cord, and a portable usb battery pack of some kind. They charge from a wall and you use the passthrough from them on the go. Take these ecig batterys and chargers out of the equation until you are at a time when you can work with it comfortably.

Best of luck, and sorry to hear of your Dad in ICU.

Hi Kim,
This seems to me that you need to get in touch with the supplier to have either the batts replaced or the charger..
As for the green light on the charger comming on and the batt not fully charged does happen and this is a false positive of the batt being fully chrged when in fact its not.. Again, get in contact with the supplier where you bought this device and talk with them about the problems. They will help you.. Unless you are out of warranty.
Hope this helps.

Thanks to both of you for your advice. Foebea, I did not even know that the usb extension cable existed. I looked them up and that's a great idea for the car especially. The PT has a very short cord on it and the adaptor is on the passenger side of the console so when I drive it is not long enough to get to my mouth.
I really like the idea of the portable battery pack as well. I like it for a lot of reasons other than just my PV. My kids have things that we need to charge all the time so that would really come in handy for those things as well.
Stubear I talked to Vicki about the equipment as you suggested. I was not aware previously and I should have been that it was only under warranty for 2 weeks SIGH. I am very frustrated now. She stated that both my batteries could be going down or my charger may be acting up. So I do not know any more than I did. She suggested that I plug the charger into the AC adaptor and charge via the wall to see if that made any difference.
OKay now for my next question. Do the Ego batteries usually go out that quickly or start going bad? If so then I am going to start looking for some different things to use. I cannot afford to purchase new batteries every month along with all the other stuff you have to buy to keep vaping. I have too many other obligations right now to even start to entertain that thought.
So what would either of you suggest instead? I saw the Riva on some of the webpages a while ago. Do those batteries last any longer than the EGo's? I see that they have a higher voltage than the Ego I am using now.
