The Qtip soaked in Rubbing Alcohol method is what I use, although I don't have to do it often.

I don't either. I typically just twist up a corner of paper towel and clean it that way but from time to time the paper towel will come out awfully dirty. That's usually when I use the alcohol to break up the residue inside, it comes out looking as good as new.

well how do you know when it needs to be done..I know, I'm stupid!

Get in the habit of pressing some paper towel in there and twisting it around each time you remove your tank or whatever you are vaping with. That will keep it pretty clean. Sometimes if you end up with a little bit of leaking into the connection the juice in there will caramelize and build up.

If you ever have a problem with your eGo not working as well as it usually does a good cleaning can help but I don't usually wait for it to get to that point.

Just look at it?

Yep...look at it. Does it still look fairly bright and shiny like the day you bought it? At first you may have to clean the connection/threads more often b/c you are more likely to overfill a carto or flood your tank etc...and that juice loves to hang out and gunk up everything. After you get the hang of it, you'll find cleaning is more of a "Well, it's the first of the month, time to clean my battery" kind of thing and less of a "Well crap. I flooded my clearo again. Time to clean my battery." Kind of thing

B4 I got the Passthru version, I gave mine a swipe with a tissue every time I put it on the charger. These type of batteries explode and have major flames when they do. The ones these have happened to was during charging.

That's why I got the passthrus. Many of the ego chargers are junk, it adds an additional point for venting, the micro-usb cable is common to other devices, and I can leave my carto tank attached for the few weeks til it needs changing.
