Ego battery mAh ratings accurate?

Just wondering if the milliamp-hour ratings on the Ego type batteries are overated? I've been using a Joye Ego with 650 mAh batteries and one battery lasts me the entire day. Now I'm on the hunt for a tube mod and would like something compact with the same or better battery life. Was interested in a GLV mini but never heard back from the company so I scratched them off the list. The Puresmoker Icon looks great, compact, and I love the idea of being able to lock it out. I'd be completely sold if it worked with AW protected cells (900 mAh?). The high drain cells are only 600 mAh, but could I expect them to last as long as the ego batts? Probably overthinking this but thanks for any info!

From what everyone's getting the Ego and Riva batteries seem pretty accurate. When you go to a mod it'll depend on the type. AW and Redilast are more accurately rated that Ultra and Trustfire but you also pay more for them.

You should get about the same amount of time from a AW IMR 600mah. I'm guessing your talking about the 14500 since that's the rating. If you're going with a 14500 most will tell you to go with a IMR anyway due to the amperage draw. When you go up sizes to say the 18650 high drain isn't needed because they are more capable of larger amperage draws.

You can get more information on battery chemistry on other forums here as well as the flashlight forums, they do alot of testing on these batteries as well.

high drains work:

If you get alll day on the eGo 650mAh, then you should be good with the 14500 HD batt.

Yes, if you are getting a full day on your eGo, the AW IMR 14500 (red) should give you the same performance. You may get a shorter battery life if you go to a lower resistance atomizer. Also, do not buy the BDL IMR 14500 (blue) batteries.

The high drain 14500 perform better than the protected 14500's even though the mah number is lower.

I was curious to battery life of eGo vs IMR 14500. Exact info I was looking for. Thanks Kent and Mlinky

I know there's a lot of people who think that batt companies inflate the mAh - I'm not one of them but only because I do get about 6.5 hours on an eGo and 9 hours on a 14500 (regular protected) AND with fairly heaving vaping on a regular 510 atty. Go to LR 1.5, 1.7, 1.8, 1.9 and/or go to power vaping and you won't get those times. In my experience the high drain batts don't last as long - they may be 'better' in some other way but not in time - again, imo - I know the 'theory' on how they should last just as long but I haven't found that to be the case.

Ya I would get a full day and evening of casual vaping with an eGo and standard atty. I'm just starting using a IMR 14500 and will be using it with a LR. I used LRs, they all died and I got used to standard attys again. The LR is really nice. So I'm curious of the life I will get from the 14500 / LR set up.

Again, my experience has been that there are only certain flavors that can hold up over about 8.3 Watts. A 14500 and a 1.5Ω atty puts out 9.12Watts. And I've burned out of few of those on my Bartlebys. And it took a strong flavor - janty RY4 (no longer available) to hold up. IF you're careful and you drip - you can get away with it as long as you keep the atty just short of flooding. And you have to redrip at first sign of drop of flavor - going past that you'll be buying another atty :) 1.7 - 1.9Ω (7.2-8.1Watts) is safer - still have to keep them soaked and the difference in the amount of vapor isn't that much with flavors holding up better.

I've yet (moving in on 2 years) to kill a battery's lifetime life. The lower ohms will cut a few hours off the 9 hours to recharge of the 14500 - the lower the ohms the more time off.

I liked the LR 1.5 mega eGo attys at first - the vapor is impressive but I went back to the regular mega eGo attys. And while I have one flavor - habana reserve on an LR B type eGo-t tank atty now - my others (@6) are running on the regular ohm'd tank attys. The only lr atty I have going is a cisco 1.5Ω 306 BWB 'applewood' - drip only and it is a bomb. But not for going out - because of the dripping.

I've had a great experience using a 17670 Protected (1600 mah) with cisco LR 306s at 1.5 ohms... makes about 9 watts, which is just right for me. I've been fortunate, my attys have held up very well. Havent burned one up yet! Definitely keep them wet... but there is some room for error... they won't just pop the minute they run dry... they can get pretty hot and keep producing vapor

My ciscos have lasted a long time - had one go out after 3 months and on another one now - since the end of February. The two I blew out with the Bart were 510's.
