Hi,
I bought two eGo batteries, manufacturer I do not know. They are originally from China, and have the eGo logo on them. They do have a very long life (2200 mAh) which I have been enjoying.

I also recently have been testing my RDA coils with them. I am proficient with this sort of thing electrically. I have some 32 gauge kanthal I would like to put to use, but stuck that gauge at the moment, and apparently I will need to move to a smaller gauge to make this work.

I came up with a dual-coil setup with around 1.8 ohms resistance, which is not going to be a problem for the discharge rate of most eGo batteries. One battery works fine when doing this. The other goes into protection for any load under 2 ohms. Since these are new, should I return the battery that goes into protection, or expect it to be within normal working range?

TIA, Mark

It's about Joye eGos, but it may be significant for yours as well. I lost three batts from dual coils and one went immediately. The other two will charge and have a white light for about 3-5 minutes and then go dark blue (the charge indicators on Joye eGos) and then lose charge. They never recovered.

Joye eGos can handle single coil 1.7-1.8 ohms well. Anything that goes below 1.3 ohms will likely blow the short protection circuit. On Joye batts, they will still run after the protection is blown (except apparently with dual coils) and will last a long time as long as there is not another short.

There are no 2200mAh Joye batts, so you decide :)

Thanks. That's interesting. This battery still works, but doesn't want to go below 2 ohms. I don't know if any protection circuitry has been blown. It takes a charge and provides it. Great link, btw. I guess I just have to decide if I want to make a fuss about returning and replacing it, or just use it as it is. It seems I'll have to go to smaller gauge kanthal (>32) to make hot coils with this one, though.

i have been using dual coil on my branded ego's no problem.i run them at 2.1 ohms though.
from what i picked up here from people with the same problem is it seems ego style batteries tend to get
touchy below 2 ohms.i think this is due to the tolerances of the circuitry used.1.8 ohms or above they should work fine.
trying a different tank might help as in some cases i've heard.it just seems to be the nature of the beast as most vapors use
2.1 ohms or more the low end tolerance is probably loosely regulated.
