I was sent a ego c battery by a very kind and generous woman and when i first got it the button light was blue, it was weak and after a week the light turned white, it was stronger then when it was blue and now today the light turned yellow like a a light bulb and it burns the heck out of the coil in myy t8 glass ecto tank, does anyone know why the light would change color and it would change from like 3 volts to seeming like 30 volts?

From the manual on joyetech's site:

eGo-C Upgrade Battery User Manual
This joyetech upgrade battery has two modes to
switch. One is the constant voltage output mode
which is what we have used before. Another is
variable voltage output mode.
You can easily switch the mode according to the
following steps.
Switching operation and features :
1. From constant voltage output mode to new
battery voltage output:
1.1 When the mode is 3.3.v constant output mode,
you can lock the battery by 5 clicks (blue LED
blinks 3 times).
1.2 By pressing button for 5 seconds, LED will
change to orange with 3 blinks. The battery has
switched to variable voltage output mode (battery
voltage output mode).
1.3 Then you can use as usual by 5 clicks off and
smoke in battery voltage output.
1.4 In new battery voltage output mode, the LED is
orange and battery doesn’t have power display function.
1.5 When charging, orange LED will blink 5 times in
this new mode.
2. From new battery voltage output to constant
voltage output mode:
2.1 In new battery voltage output mode, you can
lock the battery by 5 clicks again (orange LED
blinks 3 times).
2.2 By pressing button for 5 seconds, LED will
change to blue with 3 blinks. And the mode has
switched to 3.3V constant voltage output mode.
2.3 Then you can use as usual by 5 clicks off and
smoke in 3.3V constant voltage.
2.4 In 3.3V constant voltage, the battery features
has no difference from present eGo-C battery.
2.5 When charging, blue LED blinks 5 times in
this mode.

Retired1 info is good of course.

In the 'variable mode' (when the light is orange) you're at 4.2 volts off the charger and it goes to 3.8 rather quickly IF it is not a passthrough eGo-c. With the passthrough it will pretty much stay at around 4.0-4.19 Volts if you have it hooked up with the usb.

With the regular eGo-c in the 'variable mode' you'll be vaping at 3.6-3.8 volts for most of the charge.

In the 'constant mode' you'll be around 3.4 Volts and also when the charge is full you'll have a white led and as you lose charge in the battery, it goes to a light blue, medium blue and dark blue toward the end but the voltage will remain constant.

In constant mode - the only thing that will change the wattage (heat) will be what ohms your coil is. Stronger flavors do well in that mode at 1.8 ohms and lighter flavors do well at 2.2 ohms (some really light flavors may require 2.4-2.6 ohms). But the voltage will be constant at 3.4 Volts. So you'll be vaping at around 5.5 to 6.5 Watts.

In variable mode (when led is orange) - your wattage with a 1.8 ohm coil can reach close to 10 Watts which can burn even strong flavors and will certainly wash out any flavor with light flavors.

Also in variable mode the led doesn't change colors as the battery loses charge. I vape my eGo-c's in the 'constant mode' 95% of the time.
