Hi All,

I have 3 problems / questions about using the Ego-C from Joyetech.

I've been using it about 3 weeks, and have experienced the following:

1) I'm not sure how to get the primer out of a new atty head. On my first attempt, I had the body and head separated, and I tried to blow out the body, but nothing came out. Am I supposed to try to blow out the atty itself? I tried vaping the primer away, but it took about 40 vapes when I first got my Ego-C

2) When should I replace the body? I put a new head on the body, but it tastes different - even after vaping for a while with the new head. Does the body go bad? (I'm not sure what the body does, other than provide a placeholder for the head).

3) The first replacement head produced no vapor at all. So I replaced with a third atty head, and it worked fine. But today, I removed a half-full tank from the unit (one that was working well - producing good vapor), and I put in a new tank that was 90% full. The unit wouldn't produce any vapor with the new tank, so I took it out and put the half-full tank in again, and suddenly I was getting good vapor again. What's the deal with the tank? Anyone else experienced this? The tank that didn't work in my Ego-C WORKED in my ego-T, so I'm pretty sure that it didn't have a flow problem - ie, that the hole in the tank lid was wide open - and both tanks have silicone lids (for less leakage)

Thanks in advance for tips, answers, and solutions! :)

1. I just wipe off the new atty and blow through the bottom end a few times. The primer is just plain PG or VG and is pretty tasteless and quickly vapes away with a few puffs.

2. The body shouldn't need replacing unless the threads somehow get stripped or some other kind of mechanical damage occurs. I would thoroughly rinse it with hot water and blow through it a few times once a week or so, though.

3. The atty spike often doesn't make a clean hole when it punches through the silicone cap and can leave flaps that block the flow of juice to the wick. You can trim those flaps away with cuticle scissors, exacto knife or razor blade but be careful to not make the hole bigger. In an abundance of caution I bought 20 of those silicone caps when I bought my eGo-C because I had read that they supposedly help stop leaking but I've found that I actually much prefer the original hard caps. The main reason people have problems with eGo tanks leaking is because they drag too hard as that pulls more juice through the wick than the atty can handle, use a soft, slow drag and it's highly unlikely that you'll have any leaking problem at all (I haven't leaked a single drop for several months :). Anyway, if you decide to go back to the hard caps, if they're not pre-punched, punch them before you fill the tank by fully inserting the tank into the cone, then pop the cap off and twist off the hanging chad that gets made when the atty spike punches through the cap because the chad can block the flow of juice to the wick.

I hope this helps.

this is not always the case. The first atty head i ever used had an EXCRUCIATINGLY horrible flavor. i gave it an entire day but that horrible primer taste would not go away. i had to take to boiling the atty to get it to completely go away.

i feel like this is probably rare, but its definitely possible.

@OP i was very excited when i first got my Ego-C, and i posted on this forum about beginner issues i was having. everyone gave me advice, but also said that i should just use cartos. this was disappointing to me because i was excited for my new PV, and just dropped $87 on it!!! yet it turns out they were right. i quickly became annoyed and frustrated, and i havnt used the ego tank system in 2 months, i started dripping (still using ego battery). the ego-c is a good device, but it is a fiddle-stick. it has a lot of parts that require a lot of maintenance and replacing, and i have found that the flavor is inferior to cartos/dripping.

not trying to burst your bubble, and everyone is different, i just figured id share my experience with you.

to fully answer your questions:

1) if all else fails. boil the atty. it will not hurt it. boiling was my primary method for cleaning the ego-c attys (never took them apart), and my atty's lasted over a month with fairly heavy vaping. i only ever had one die on me and its because the metal battery connector on the bottom broke. i say you boil it, it will completely get rid of the taste. i also suggest boiling it before changing flavors.

2) no, you dont need to replace the body. try rinsing it out with warm water, and then roll up some paper towel into a really thin cyclinder-type deal, stick it through the cone and give it a few spins to dry it out.

3) this happened to me every once in a great while. the bad reason for it would be if your atty was dead. otherwise it could be either because its not wicking properly, or your cone or tank arent tight enough in place. if you think it could be a wicking issue, take out your atty head, and with a pair of tweezers SLIGHTY pull the wick UP a bit.

well.... this might be a double-post. I replied once to TopShelf10, but nothing showed up in the forums after refresh. Just wanna make sure to say thanks! I'll try the hard caps and check for hanging chads too. Thanks also for the tip about boiling.

Regarding boiling, how long to you let your atty's dry out afterwards? And what process procedure do you go through when you use the dried out atty for the first time (after boiling)?

well im impatient, so i often didnt let them dry out. after i took them out of the water, i blew them out good, then dropped 3 drops of liquid directly onto the wick. then put my ego-c together, filled up my tank and just started puffing away. if you do that and dont let it dry, you are going to get flavorless water hits for like the first 10-15 drags, but its much better than that machine fluid. otherwise, if you want to just let it dry, just put it on a window sill overnight (or put it in front of a fan).

one more other important thing when youre using the ego-c: get used to doing "primer puffs". a primer puff is simply taking a draw without pushing the button. a dry draw if you will. this will help wicking, and keep the atomizer wet with juice. thats very important. when i was using those tanks, i literally took a primer puff before and after every single draw. sometimes if i was watching tv, i would just keep the thing to my mouth and just keep priming. you should also take a lot of primer puffs if you are going to use the non-dry method i mentioned in the above paragraph, youll get the juice going a lot faster. if you dont prime, youll get a lot of dry hits ::yuck::

As MWA said, the Stardust is fairly popular...i personally not not like the taste of them at all.
My personal suggestion would be that you start with Boge LR cartos from www.crystalclearvaping.com not only are they cheap but they are almost universally popular. And in this particular case, cheap price does not = cheap product.
Id say get an order of those (15 for $20, free shipping, free drip tip) before you start experimenting with advanced cartos like the Stardust.
