I just got an EGO-CE5 starter kit last week with an "EGO-CE5" battery and "kaiwei eGo USB charger" charger. After about a week of use, I went to charge the battery one night and the next morning the light on the charger was still red. Took the battery off and it gave no response at all... no matter how many times I'd press it, no blue light. Plugged it back into the charger and no blue light either.

Thought I'd gotten a dud battery so I took it back to the place I got it (about an hour away, unfortunately) and they promptly swapped it for another one. Second battery made it through one charge successfully, and now I'm having the same issue. Got up this morning and battery was completely dead.. won't respond to anything. Charger still switches from green to red when I connect the battery, but never finishes charging.

I've cleaned the contacts, pulled up the center pin, and opened the charger to ensure that everything is connected inside. I have the charger plugged into my laptop right now, and am giving charging another try, but a quick test after 20 minutes of charging and the battery still won't respond.

Another odd thing... though the red light is on on the charger, the green light is also ever-so-slightly on too. I can't remember if it's always done this, or if this is a new development.

The contacts were pretty dirty.. is it possible that the battery was just completely fried? Has anyone else had this problem, or have any suggestions?

Sounds like they gave you a new battery, when it is possible that the charger is the piece that may be bad. Can you test w/another charger/USB cord?

Do yourself a favor and buy genuine joyetech brand Ego batteries. And their charger. I've had 10 o them and still going strong @2+ years never had a problem.

But have tossed many clones into garbage can. :)

And, get a wall adapter to go with the USB cable, so you can plug into wall. I would never charge an ecig on my computer directly, without using a USB hub. Good way to blow up a motherboard/usb port on computer.

Joyetech products in peru?

In my experience 20 minutes on a laptop USB will not be enough juice to revive a completely dead battery. Get yourself a wall-wort and plug it in. Depending on the size of the battery, it can take abywhere from 2 to 10 hours to fully charge.

If the red light is lit on the charger, the chances are it is charging. It'll take forever on a laptop. If it's a regular ego charger, that green flicker shows it is charging. The green flicker will eventually turn solid green when it's done.

Still, some better advice here on the thread. Get yourself a genuine Joyetech or Vision battery. They are proven to be much more reliable than almost all of the no-name brands out there.
