Are you leaving it plugged in over night? I found when I first got mine, I was impatient, because I noticed it was still red, but every 5 seconds or slow, a faint, quick green flash and back to red. I am talking a nano second flash of green. So the next night I left it plugged in all night, and in the morning, mine was green. I have a wall charger with a usb plug. I just found out tonight it is not good to drop the batteries. Mine shorted out inside, will not vape or charge. light stays green and the button light on the ego just flashes. New kit on order from the UK. arg.

Just checked mine, maybe its not generic it does say eGo USB charger on the bottom and give some specs(mines from myfreedomsmokes.com). Odd that neither of ours act the same way if they are the same chargers. Is the light green when its just plugged in with no eGo attached or is always red?

godzilla: that sucks, I did drop my ego PT yesterday on concrete while walking the dog luckily no damage.

I just got a new generic ego charger today, mine stays green while charging then changes to red when its done. My guess would be your generic charger can only display red.
Your charger may be defective and the light colors are turned. I say this because it is widespread that "red" means working and "green" means "not working" or, in this case, finished.

I'm sorry for your battery but you can disassemble and fix it. It should not be hard. AFAIK the only part totally glued (a lot of glue) is the real battery inside the tube so you can easily access to the button control and charge/discharge chip. I never did it but I saw many pictures and some videos showing how to disassemble an eGo.

So out of frustration, I left them charging overnight and woke up this morning to 2 green lights! LOL, but I thought eGO chargers were supposed to be "quick" chargers?

First time I used my Tornado batteries they lasted me for two days, then they decreased their duration (or I increased my consumption) and now are stabilized in one full day. On the one hand they always need around 4 hours to be fully charged with the wall charger (as @les017 said). On the other hand, using the Tornado specific USB charger it is supposed to fully charge Tornado batteries in 90 mins. I own one USB charger but, as I don't use it so often,. I can't confirm the time to charge. I think that if you are using the USB charger it is pretty normal to fully charge your half-empty batteries in one hour

I have an ego and I vap till the batt light flashes usually about 12-14 hours, than plug it into my computer usb. 1-2 hours later I get a green light. I believe the usb computer method is faster than wall plug. No idea why just what I have read. I have a wall charger but never have used it.
A standard wall charger use to provide only 150mA of power while the Tornado/eGo specific USB charger provides 350mA of power. Theoretically, if no power were lost, an empty Tornado battery needs 1h 52min to be fully charged with the USB charger, and 4h 20min with the wall charger. As they cut off the power before being really empty (keep around 10% or charge) those theoretic times are reduced by around 10%.

Def sounds defective if you have to play with it like that to get it to charge. I charge my ego's overnight so they usually sit for a few hours with full charge before I disconnect in the morning hasn't cause any problems yet.

Reddog this is fairly common. Two things to try:

1. Clean the connections on the battery and the charger before you attach the batt to the charger.
2. Unplug the charger from the wall before you attach the battery then plug it in.

It doesn't hurt to leave them plugged in after the charge is complete. Once the green light comes on the charging process stops.

Edit: Oh, sorry, I missed the part about the battery light blinking. In that case, it could be a charger problem but still wouldn't hurt to try those two things.

This problem with the eGo chargers has been documented and, as I understand it, is quite common. I've noticed that when I charge through my wall charger, I really have to mess with the thing to get the LED to turn red. Not sure why. I have less trouble in my USB port, but it is still very rarely an immediate change from green to red. As far as I have experienced it, this LED issue has not affected whether or not my eGo actually charges.

I have the same problem. The charge light stays green on the wall charger and mine does not take a charge but it seems to be working on the computer USB port now.

This is a known problem and there's another thread for units that were bought from Liberty Flights.
