Ego charger melted

I recieved some ego style USB chargers today and noticed it was rated 5v 500mA out but didn't think twice about it and plugged in an ego battery, I believe slb Riva, and after 5 mins it started to smoke and melt so I unplugged it. I took a second charger from the same batch and plugged in a joyetech ego battery in and I'm monitoring it closely but nothing unusual is happening.

I though Riva and joyetech batteries were the same and so are the chargers. Anyone have any idea what the problem could be?

500 output for those batteries is a bit high.. 420 for ego size & even lower for 510 size batteries

Input is 5VDC 500mA output should be 4.2VDC 420mA

The supplier told me I was sent Kgo chargers and will ship me the appropriate ones after vapecon. Odd how the joyetech charged fine but the riva wasn't having it.

Personally I don't mess around with clones let alone trying to charge someone else battery with X charger when you are supposed to use Y

i had the same thing happen with a charger rated the same on an ego 650 batt i could smell somthing burning so i pulled the batt off and the charger kept getting hot needless to say i pitched the charger
